MH lounge in KLIA closing for renovations from Nov 1

I had no wifi problems last week in either the regional lounge or the international lounge, using the passwords on the signs.

I liked the regional lounge better for atmosphere and peacefulness - but not for having to line up at the bar to get a glass of water . There's fruit juice on the buffet but not water.

My biggest gripe about the international lounge was that I didn't notice there was a spa until I had to go to the gate . My own fault I know.

The spa treatments are not free, unlike the QF international First lounges.

Anyway, I'm disappointed about the First Class lounge not being re-opened in time for when I'm going to pass through...

Anyway, in transit at KUL right now. The lounge in the satellite terminal is closed between 1am and 5am! Passengers are re-directed to the regional lounge in the main terminal during these hours. I don't understand why they're doing that when the renovations on the business class side have finished. I suppose it's a cost-saving exercise... The regional lounge is quite quiet in the early hours of the morning.

I'll be there week after next. Will report back if I have time at KUL.

I passed through last weekend and again asked when the Platinum side would re-open. After being told "mid-January" when I visited before Christmas, this time I got "maybe end of January" from the lounge agent whose body language suggested 'who knows?'

I was told sometime in February! However, I was also told that they are combining the first class lounge with the platinum suite into one bigger space, which is a good thing.

It's open!

I'm sitting in the lounge that aparently re-opened is morning. Workmen are moving in pots of plants. What was previously the dining area is now fancy (but cheap looking) lounge chairs. The small buffet spread that was along a wall is still there. What must previously have been the Platinum suite or whatever it was called seems to now be a restaurant but I haven't been in there yet. The walls appear painted but the boarding below the glass railing separating the two levels hasn't been. There are about 10 staff and only myself and one other gentleman in the lounge (although there may be more in the restaurant). The slumberettes are still closed and the carpet on the entry level of the lounge hasn't been changed.

To be honest, while I haven't seen the restaurant yet, it's absolutely nothing flash. I'll try to post some photos using my iPad.

Some photos.

I've now dined in the restaurant. As before, linen napkins and tablecloths. In addition to a small buffet with four hot dishes, some sandwiches and fresh fruit there was a menu. The menu included mee hoon soup and wonton noodle soup. Mains were half lobster with perchik sauce, pan seared rib eye steak, and braised vegetables.

The bathrooms are very nice but, uh-oh, no soap, anywhere. I used the facilities then found myself with nothing to wash with so I delicately opened the door and found a lounge member to help. He said "I'll show you" but couldn't find any - so gave me some bath gel!

It's a little busier now but there the staff to passenger ratio is still at least three to one.

Can you go the lounge if on regional/domestic flights or are you restricted to the main terminals

I was surprised to see the first class lounge in the satellite terminal opened when I passed through there this morning on my way back home. The older section is now all seating and the platinum suite is specifically for dining, which makes more sense.

Can a QF Plat (OWE) access the new dining area which was previously the platinum suite area? Last year, I was refused entry as they stated it was only for MH First customers amd Enrich Plats:mad::evil:

You can access the F lounge in the satellite terminal if on a regional flight. You will need to take the sky train to and from the regional terminal. However, I don't believe it's possible if on a domestic flight. The lounge in that terminal is very basic.

Yes. I accessed it as a QF Platinum flying J.

If you are flying domestically within Malaysia (including Sabah and Sarawak), then you can only access the domestic lounge in KUL (as you don't go through passport control). Domestic lounges are generally fine, with pretty much what you'd expect, except the alcohol.
