My mother-in-law is flying MH to ADL-KUL-LHR tomorrow. Naturally, she has given no thought to her points earning. Her travel agent was good enough to sign her up for MH Enrich.

I discovered from a search on this site that she can earn Velocity points through her MH flights. I have signed her up to Velocity, but am not sure whether to switch her booking from Enrich to Velocity. I can find out the earn rate for each program, but I can't work out the burn rate for Enrich points or even whether it is possible to redeem them on DJ.

FWIW, her booking class is Q, so she earns 70% miles on Enrich and 50% points for miles on Velocity. She is an infrequent flyer, ADL-LHR is a long route and she will earn some useful points as long as I can guide her to the best program.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

My concern about the MH program is that all points have a hard 3 year expiry. Velocity points don't expire provided there is activity in the account every 36 months.

For an infrequent flyer, my recommendation is the Velocity program, even if it means less points on MH and a slightly worse burn rate on MH.

Moreover, if your M-I-L intends on travelling within our country, she can credit DJ flights to Velocity, whereas I wonder really how many DJ flights will successfully credit to Enrich...

Thanks. That settles it for me.

Has anyone had trouble checking a booking on MH website? I put in the booking ref and passenger name and it keeps saying reference not found.

I also was unable to check my booking when flying MH in May. I just rang the Australian call centre and they were more than helpful. I was also able to request a seats while on the phone. They are a good airline, lots of room in economy which was great.
