Just went to an Malaysia Airlines hosted function for TAs.
In the presentation, direct Perth to Sabah was mentioned, $637 return. Also an increase in frequency on the KUL route is just going through regulatory approval, including a 02:00ish Saturday night flight.
What interested me the most was business class return $5678? (For off peak - now to November). Including taxes from PER to LHR / CDG. And an unusual bonus: pay for business PER-LHR return, and choose to depart from a regional WA port on Qantaslink (GET, KGI, PHE etc.) and receive the extra legs for only $100 on top. Wow! My work has paid $800 for me in Y to go PER-PHE one way! So that could be a real bonus for those in regional areas.. or those particularly keen OneWorlders who are desperate for a status run...
Same thing for Y - pay the PER-LHR/CDG and for an extra $100 add on QantasLink regional flights. The presenter did quote $1422 return for Y to CDG or LHR, but I note on the site it is still around $1600ish. Perhaps the cheaper fares are yet to be released. The presenter was quite specific in saying that the $1422 was tax inclusive.
