There seem to be a few old threads, but nothing recent, so wanted to check if people had any recent experiences.

I parked my car in at the Valet run by Melbourne Airport - or TechGuard Security on behalf of Melbourne Airport. When I picked it up three days later, there was some damage done to my car. I flagged it with them immediately and was told someone would investigate and call me back.

Naturally, the investigation concluded the damage was pre-existing and included a fictitious written statement from the guard who parked my car.

The quote to repair the damage is only $400, but its the principal and the fact that they blatantly lie to try to get out of it that really annoyed me.

I sent a copy of the repair quote, and asked for payment, but got no reply (of course). So I'm just about to submit the VCAT application but was curious if anyone had any advice on how to proceed! It's my word against there's I guess...and my travel companion.

That's really coughpy. Particularly as it's pitched as a premium service.

They get off paying $400, but I imagine they'll never get your business again (and many who read stories like this), probably costing them a lot more.

Good luck. Let us know how you go.

I'd call Mel airport and ask to speak to a complaints person, explain the scenario and if you have history parking there use that as well. I'd request CCTV footage of your car entering the carpark boom gates as they have numberplate recognition (if the damage would have been easy enough to see/or not ) . Hopefully this would resolve it if not tell them of your vcat intentions and that you would prefer to resolve this privately and will continue parking there.

That's what I've done, but the valet is run by a different company, TGS, which is owned by SPOTLESS. And they're not interested in resolving it. Guess I'll see what happens when they get the VCAT papers. You'd hope they couldn't be bothered over $400 bucks and will just pay it.

It's a shame, cause I get that accidents happen, its just the way they've gone about handling it that is really unprofessional.
