Hi all, my daughter is flying to Melbourne for a concert, and I want to get her an airport transfer to the cbd who do you recommend? She will be arriving at 11:30 PM and she is travelling with a friend so I want them to be safe and comfortable.

SkyBus is fine and will drop them off in the CBD and then have a hotel transfer if required.

Theres no hotel transfers at that time of night with skybus.

Personally with 2 travelling id just get a cab

I'm about to research this too.
4 of us going to MEL soon and don't want to get the SkyBus.
Not sure that a taxi will fit 4 with HLO.

A taxi will fit four with HLO and be much cheaper than Skybus. (HSW to MEL is about $60 by taxi and $72 by Skybus.)

Yep just tell the dudes at the rank you want a Station Wagon or indeed a Maxi Taxi - the guys at MEL pretty pro-active with plenty common sense - they actually assess pax needs without you asking - they will soon set you right if you ask nicely.

Skybus is OK for one passenger. Agree overpriced, but sometimes still the best option.

For 4 people agreed just ask for a maxi or a wagon, or probably they will see you need one. However this is an extra charge FYI.

After many bad experiences with Starbus (an utter disgrace) in particular, even when travelling solo I now always take a taxi. For 4 people it's a no-brainer. (Skybus too inconvenient so have never used)

I booked with Melbourne Star Chauffers
I called/emailed a few places and decided on this crew as they seemed the most professional for the value for money
also others were a bit shady on the pricing not being able to give a definite, it was dependant on toll roads and parking.
They accepted Amex over the phone while others only accepted cash, price was $85 (normally $75) but late night fee added.
will let you know after her trip how it went

Ok. It's not Melbourne. But 3 of us in SYD for 24 hours. We looked at taxi ( I hate Sydney taxis). Uber. Train etc. I ended up hiring a car. The convenience outweighs the cost of overnight parking and fuel. But I think it works best because we are 3 If it were only 2 of us, I might just go with the train.
It comes down to numbers traveling, luggage and trip duration.
