MEL storms - any delays?

Hi all
Just sat in our office in [insert Melbourne suburb] looking out at the torrential rain and lightning and am wondering if there are any delays starting for QF flights out of MEL this evening?
It might be a longer stint in the QP...

There were already some issues from around 7:30am today.

This will have some further knock on.

What time is your flight?

Was looking at www.Melbourneairport.com.au (have relative travelling this evening ex-MEL)

Most intl departures seem mildly-moderately delayed (without calculating it looked between 15 and 1h30 seemed to be for most flights).

Didnt look at Dom Ops. Sorry.

I have a 6PM flight - currently not showing any delays...

here's hoping for a points upgrade too

Currently there are no issues with that one - due into MEL from SYD ¼ hour early at 16:45.

Some flights were delayed out of MEL 30+ minutes but seems ok currently.

Flights out of Melbourne Airport were grounded for half an hour because of the risks posed by lightning.
"While the storm passes there's effectively nothing moving, nothing taking off," an airport spokesman said.
He said the airport had not had to divert any incoming flights.

Just had an announcement in ADL QP that any PAX travelling on to BNE from SYD connecting from QF764 need to talk to QP staff... not sure how to interpret that..

It should be interpreted that the flight inbound from MEL went back to MEL due to electrical storm in ADL so we aint going nowehere until 18:20...

Something strange happening with operating 734 aircraft QF759 (SYD-ADL) - it seems to have gone via MEL.

That's interesting - they said that the aircraft was flying from MEL and turned back to MEL due to the storms.

Just realised this is a 734 rather than a 738

Yes I recently flew ADE-PER on a 734 and the damn seat is so bad it felt worse than Y seating.

A very bad outcome for an upgrade.

Well judging from your typing in the previous post (which I have edited to make it understandable ) the bar must have been open for a while :shock:.

VH-TJF (yes a 734) was scheduled to operate QF759 SYD-ADL and then turn around as QF764 back to SYD.

Yes, it flew via MEL.

Methinx upgrades for CityFlyer flights after 4pm between MEL/SYD/BNE/ADL/CBR are generally a waste of points - especially for a WP.

They are short flights and a WP generally gets good seating in economy (especially on a 734 if you get those forward seats with 37" pitch).
