I'm flying MEL-LAX with my parents next year in J. I'd love to guest both into the F lounge but obviously I am only guaranteed that one will get it. My plan is to walk ahead after customs and very politely ask if they can both come in. I'm well aware that the answer may be 'no' however I'm interested in other's experience in gaining access for an additional adult guest.

P.S. Of course I know one can use the J lounge however it won't be much fun for my least favourite parent .

If you ask politely - you never know your luck.

As you said - be prepared to go to the J lounge instead.

And if you really lke both your parents you could give your BP and WP card to your father and let him play you whilst you take his to the J lounge... (lucky for me WP SWMBO is coming on the next trip with the parents as well so we can all get in)

If they said no extra guest I would offer to go to the J lounge although I'm not sure they would accept that (although it may make them feel bad)!

Think el_rooto has posted in the last few days being unable to guest 2 into FLounge, don't know if it's SYD or MEL ?

All you can do is ask nicely. I've been able to take two guests into the international J lounge by doing that.

It was in syd however I made friends with the guy next to me and his partner was on an earlier flight so we got my friends in....

I'm travelling in economy to LAX from Sydney and hopefully I can get one adult and one 8 year old child in as guests to the First lounge though not sure.

I think the one world lounge first lounge in LAX may be more difficult on the way back though.

From reading other threads I think an additional child guest will be fine.

My plan C or D would be to approach a generous looking person (hopefully on the same flight) on their own and very politely ask if they could help out with guesting. I suspect most people would be happy to and I certainly would.

The irony is that I've never guested anyone into the F Lounge before so it's not like I've been rorting the system!

I have guested two in to the MEL FLounge before.

I asked beforehand, in the absence of the guests, as you propose to do. Initially, I think the answer was going to be "sorry, the rules...." but someone else came up and when quetsioned he said "yes , just this once!"

Excellent result, especially so, as we all flying JQ! For most of the time, we were the only occupants of the Lounge.

Where you impacted by the QF situation, a F lounge pass might come in handy?

Never hurts to ask.

FWIW, SYD F lounge - last year was travelling with wife, 2 kids & mother........morning flight in J.

Approached the attendant asked politely......he said that I could take my mother down to the QP and the four of us could come back. I was polite, he was polite.

Good luck :)

Have u thought use the boards and see if any other AFF'ers are travelling that help you with access. THere is a board for this I think.

On a trip MEL-LAX-JFK.

Whilst travelling with my wife & 2 kids, I was cycling my kids thru MEL F lounge one at a time when the lounge receptionist said "Your family is welcome to join you, QF doesn't split up families".

I tried the same thing at LAX & the lounge dragon wouldn't allow it, so I sent my wife & daughter into the F lounge and my son & I to the J lounge.

YMMV.

An update on this - I checked in at MEL F checkin and after customs walked ahead to the F lounge to politely request an additional guest. The check in agent had phoned ahead unknown to me and told the lounge to expect us and they couldn't have been more helpful.

That's a great result and a good example of QF using discretion wisely ( unlike some other airlines one could mention ;) )
