MEL DOM Premium security gate [little rant]

Just went through Melbourne priority lane. It was 6.20pm and it was not manned. I could see three people ahead of me in suits and could read their boarding passes, and none of them had status.

Great rant and certainly justifiable.... I am now no longer polite and wait patiently behind the idiots to empty out all their "stuff" into the trays. I walk ahead of them and put my stuff through the belt and I go through the detector.. They hold up my lounge time...

I don't think this action applies to the priority line. Hate waiting behind people while they pfaff around and expect others who don't have the need, or who are organised in advance, to wait. But it can get a little tense if you walk past them.

It is not a matter of politeness. There is no problem moving ahead of people who are taking time to sort things out, there is no need to stand there like a dill as long as there is no actual physical pushing or shoving. But, not everyone dealing with their "stuff' is an idiot and not everyone is in a hurry.

But the issue is that everyone has a definition of politeness and this action could be seen as pushing past the queue. Maybe the security could put up a sign saying to move to the scanner if you have no laptops etc. except, I suspect the security couldn't really care that much.

Indeed but why worry about that. It does not hurt anyone or impinge upon anyone elses speed of passage and therefore it is perfectly reasonable. If someone in the queue thinks it's rude, so be it.

couldnt agree more. Keep pushing ahead, think how it would work in Asia or Africa?
