We are traveling TG to Krabi via BKK and are wondering about duty free alcohol. Can we carry it all the way from MEL through BKK or will they take it off us. We don't have a big turnaround time but if the answer to that is yes, could we buy it in BKK before boarding our connection?

Put it in your checked bag and you should be fine

You wouldn't be able to take duty free alcohol with you in transit.

You should be able to purchase alcohol from domestic transit point. Some duty free alcohol is cheaper in BKK.

Once you arrive in Bangkok (and even if you purchase it in BKK), I believe you will still have to pack any alcohol into your checked luggage from BKK to KBV, I don't believe you can take DF alcohol (even in DF packaging) through the domestic screening point. I'm happy to stand corrected though.

The AOT (Airports of Thailand Authority) seems to suggest that:

"Passengers Departure/Departing passengers, transit passengers, or transfer passengers who have bags containing LAGs bought from duty free shops at the airport or on the plane can take them on board if those bags are sealed and there is no evidence that they are torn or opened after purchase."

There's a duty free store next to the domestic transfer screening point. I've used it a few times without issue.
