It's terrible web practice to force a splash page on returning users. Any web team would've added a cookie script which would basically say: New user=Show splash page; Returning user=Go to regular homepage (This only works if users are using the same browser and device every time to access the site)
Coupled with the awful website itself, it seems Virgin is skimping on their web staff. (Either that, or some director insisted on the splash page being shown every time).

I don't think this falls under the same "user identification" as IP address or cookie recognition. Entering personal information should be something that is required every time. (unless your browser has saved your login details however). A phone system wouldn't know a person's FF number and seems like a security nightmare if it did.Or that bloody phone message. I had to call VA over a dozen times last week (from overseas) to sort some booking issues out, and despite putting the same VFF number in, every time I had to listen to that person drone on about "did I know, well now you do" before even putting me in the phone queue.
