Hi there,

I'm currently planning a flight to London and have the option of a round world Ticket on Qantas (Via LA then Washington DC) or a Canberra-London return. Does anyone know the best way to maximise my Status Credits? :)

Thanks in advance

G'day pointsman, welcome to AFF. :D

To assist you we need to know what sort af ATW fare you intend to be travelling on. (Routing rules, Booking Class, MPM limits etc.)

Flying CBR-SYD-LHR return would give you 140SC’s in discount economy. If you changed flight numbers in Singapore you could tack on an extra 20SC’s. That’s (10 + 60 + 60 + 10).

On the other hand, flying CBR-SYD-LAX-IAD-LHR return will net you 210SC’s. And that’s (10 + 45 + 20 + 30 + 30 + 20 + 45 + 10).

Typically the more flights segments the more SCs.
Assuming Business Class (where the gains are bigger)

If you are on a proper RTW (eg. a DONE4 which may well be cheaper than a full-fare return and can have up to 16 segments).

eg SYD-JFK-LAX-DFW-MIA-DFW-LAX-LHR-DXB-LHR-MEL-PER-ADL-SYD would garner 1560 SCs (and is no-where near maximised),
vs 480 SCs for SYD-LHR-SYD
and 560 SCs for SYD-SIN-LHR-SIN-SYD (if booked on separate flights)
