We hopefully are going to get to WA in April. After all your election will be over. Our accom. in Margaret river has reccomended we book any restaurants as it will be very busy.Staying 5-7/4.

Also will be in PERfect PERth on 7/4.Happy to meet up for lunch or dinner.

Here's hoping.

Good chance I will be around on 7/4 (unless I end up in isolation, or something like that)

Thanks for that @Daver6 .
Certainly we are interested in restaurants in the area not just Margaret River town.
We generally now don't do Degustation menus as our appetites are not what they used to be.The Japanese one sounds quite OK though.

I expect to be good for 7 April. Flexible for lunch or dinner. It's a Wednesday, which is also PJM's day off.

April tends to be the least windy time of year in PER, while the days are still balmy. So suggesting lunch overlooking City Beach; either Odyssea (Odyssea City Beach) or Hampton's (Home).

Shorehouse (https://www.shorehouse.com.au/) at Swanbourne is good, but doesn't quite look straight over the beach like those at CB.

Where will you be staying in PER?

Vasse Felix (Vasse Felix - Visit - Restaurant) is the benchmark winery resto in MR.

The go-to for breakfast is Bunkers Beach House (Bunkers Beach House).

Japanese one has various sizes and you don't walk away feeling stuffed.

I concur with Bunkers. It's also a great lunch option. Book ahead and ask for a spot on the deck. A stroll on the beach before or after a meal is worth while.

I would say Voyager would have been the benchmark winery resto but both are excellent. Degustation is what it's known for though.

If you like beer, there are a few breweries around. My favourite is Beerfarm. Both for the beers and also super casual, but excellent food.

Lamonts Smith's Beach is meant to be good. Never been, but if it's half as good as Lamont's Cott, you can't go too wrong.

April 7. I could be up for dinner. Sadly, have work during the day.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is that what you meant to write or did 'auto correct' raise its usual ugly head?

@JohnM - I have put you in charge of dinner !!
We will be driving from Margaret River to Perth via Collie to see the dam painting - so lunch will be off the menu ;)
Staying in a hotel in the Perth CBD - only one night in Perth now as we are doing a lobster cruise out of Geraldton because of your TR !!

OK, dinner it is and I suggest we go somewhere in, or within walking distance of the CBD to make it easy all round for centrality and transport options.

Some ideas to kick off:

Shadow Wine Bar (https://shadowwinebar.com.au/), Balthazar (Balthazar) have never disappointed. Post (Post | Perth CBD Restaurant at COMO The Treasury) was good and has been re-vamped Italian. I haven't been for quite a while. Good location.

Over to @Daver6 for thoughts and other ideas.

Aahh, I just realised why your accommodation at MR said book restos early. It's Easter - and school holidays. The MR region is a zoo at Easter, so heed their advice. I know Bunkers Beach House will impose a time limit for breakfast.

Is BYO for Perth dinner a consideration or not?

Balthazar has a privitish room if we get a crowd.

If you're desperate for a view then South Perth is easily accessible from the CBD. I've not dined at Coco's in a very long time, but am meant to be going with friends sometime in March (the date keeps moving). I could report back.

There's Long Chim | thai street food | state buildings basement perth which is a bit like Chin Chin in Melbourne in terms of cuisine. Probably not the best food for wine unless we're hammering German Riesling :)

There's Hearth at the Ritz too, but that would mean @JohnM would need to wear more than shorts to dinner :p

Any direction on cuisine/dining level you'd be keen on?

I am desperately hoping my son and baby granddaughter will be in Perth over Easter. So I certainly hope that both of you also make it over here.

My (long ago) experience of CoCo's is 'commercial with a view'. So, aimed at the tourist market.

Hearth (Hearth Restaurant & Lounge Perth) is the schmick, IMO. Not really a drawn-out dego, but the 3-course menu is very good.

I'm happy for our friends from an imPERfect location to make the call based on links we've put up, where they are staying, their pressures for getting to Gero and what their chowing and gargling preferences are, and I'll fit in.

Regularly tolerating The Kid's antics means I'm easily pleased. 😜

@JohnM we have Wine Club membership at Cocos in South Perth so that can cut the cost of some great wines to prices you might pay at a competitive wine merchant. Parking is easy underneath the building and food and Perth water views are good.
Over at Treasury Buildings we have about $2,000 of Vouchers that we bought for $1600 in their Boxing Day Sale. That covers Post and a whole group of dining spots mostly with no views.20% off almost makes it reasonable.
Balthazar and Shadow Wine Bar are pretty good for a relaxing long meal.
Matilda Bay and Chez Pierre are places we go too. We do long lunches at Chez Pierre and that can be fun over in Nedlands.

Lunch at Eagle Bay Brewery is a favourite. Lovely views to the ocean and good, casual food. There are several good breweries around for relaxed lunches.
