Manila QF Lounge - worst QF lounge I've ever experienced

What I should have really said was why don't they shift to a lounge shared by a group of airlines such as the Pagss or Miascor.
Thankfully haven't been to either the Munich or new Shanghai lounge. Fingers crosssd Qantas either change terminals, improve the existing lounge or shift to one of the share lounges in Manila.

Is Pagstop not also a lounge that is used by other airlines? Don't see how QF can possibly improve a lounge that they neither own nor operate.

The share lounges have guests from different airlines all day long and the standard is higher with more turnover of the F & B and better furniture. Qantas just has the five or six flights a week and the lounge opens a few hours before the flight and then closes after the flight is called. There has been no update to the lounge for years and the selection of F & b has to be seen to be believed. From memory the selection of red and white wine is the cheapest Portuguese available. At least they could provide Hardys. I wish I had some photos to share.

Any review of the Pagstop Lounge in Terminal One in Manila says that it needs complete renovation and an upgrade in standards.
What is not clear is if there is more then one Pagstop Lounge in that terminal.
The internet seems to indicate that Qantas use a "shared" Pagstop Lounge that is also used by Etihad, Priority Pass, and Diners Club.
If this was so then Qantas are in fact using a shared lounge. Whatever the situation is Qantas can only urge Pagstop to improve the lounge.

The "Pagstop" lounge (was previously the SQ lounge) is directly opposite the QF lounge; it is indeed larger and better appointed than the latter (which is also used by JL and possibly others). There used to be a "Pagstop" lounge upstairs in the main terninal area, but that closed after the renovations. It appears that QF uses this as an "overflow" when its own lounge is busy; I usually flash the Diners card and go there directly, giving the QF lounge a miss; almost always I notice people who are obviously QF pax.

As for wine selections: this is typical of all the lounges I have been in, including those in T3.

I travel to Manila quite a bit for work and concur that it's the worst QF lounge I have visited (partner lounge or not). I was in Manila last week and this time left via CX and their lounge is much, much better. Although they have an issue with air conditioning as it was unbearably hot!

i think as others have said, the lounge would be very full if they had QF flights leaving from T3 also, so hence why QF is stuck at the miserable T1.

Has to be said also, Jakarta is much the same as Manila. A terrible partner lounge if ever I saw one.

Jakarta there is a choice of two lounges, both shockers. But not really much that can be done, they are not going to open their own lounge, so need to use what is available. And the two that Qantas pax can choose from, as bad as they are, are a vast improvement on the other smaller common use lounges down near the immigration check point. between the E and F (Domestic) piers.

Isn't the lounge in the exact spot where the old QF lounge used to reside?

Agreed the lounge is not great but it is an improvement on the old lounge.

There's bigger issues in MNL than the lounge. I didn't even get to experience it yesterday after spending close to two hours in the immigration line. 3 staff checking all foreign passport holders. Lots of people appeared to miss their flights. No business/status line - only crew and diplomats. Shambles.

That is extremely unusual these days: immigration at T1 is almost always very quick and painless. You must have chosen your date badly!

I agree with the above.
As for the MNL QF Pub, these days I rather sit outside at Starbucks then entering the pub where it is almost always standing room only.

At the time of my former thread QF yields for MNL were 92.4% making it number one for QFi. For Nov '16 MNL is still the second highest growth destination for QFi.

That is a load factor, not yeild. Two different beasts.

I always skipped the QF lounge at MNL for the old CX one next door, sure the interior and furnishings were from the 70s but at least the bar was stocked and you could 'upgrade' yourself to First with no questions asked!

I cannot agree more and strongly recommend going to next lounge.
I am there now after first visiting the Qantas (note this is 5th visits to these longed). Although The Qantas Lounge has been updated it is still tiny and A/C is junk.

Next door although not up to a Australian Standard is much more roomy and better laid out. FYI the Girls at the Qantas door will you say they are the same trust me they are not.

Qantas move to terminal 3 from August which has much better lounges. If you have Oneworld status the Cathay Lounge is very good. Not sure what the default QF lounge will be in T3.
