Ever heard of the Crusades? ;)

It is not Islam as such but the extremists who use religion as an excuse to wreck terror. I recall certain Christian groups being pretty much as extreme over the last few centuries. The 'bad' guys vary according to which chunk of history you are looking at.

Islamic or Christian crusades?

Oh Pushka. The Crusades began in 1095.The caliphate invaded Spain in in 711 and remained until 1492.
Then in Christianity you had things such as the reformation.not happened yet with Islam.
There are muslims calling for reformation such as Sheikh Tawhidi who wants Islam to be compatible with western values. So how do Australians react to him.Naturally the right wing loves him but look at the response of the left-

Media Watch: ‘Fake’ Sheikh of shock (22/05/2017)

Yet here is his history on that not very right wing site-The Huffington post-
Imam Shaikh M. Tawhidi | HuffPost

So he is not a fake sheikh,he responds in practical ways such as visiting Indonesia to talk to leaders of Churches attacked there, comes from a long line of Imams and has studied Islam for many years.

And the cycle continues...

Cant help but think it is more complicated than that ... noting that the continent seems to have issues with more recent arrivals, whereas in the UK the issue has its foundations >20 years ago, with the generation born in U.K. with immigrant parents.

That was my point drron. We've been Christian versus Muslim forever. Right wing - left wing - just more examples of extreme views. Stick to the middle and we might just get on ok.

Totally irrelevant. And those idiots were part of the reason Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire collapsed.

An 8 year old girl was murdered the other night along with other innocent human beings. Trying to justify these murders is wrong in more ways than I can imagine. And anyone that does try to justify these murders has a warped mind.

And as a few posters have mentioned this will continue to happen because we continur to ignore it. Very sad.

.

There is not one person in this thread that has done what you claim.

Absolutely. It's an offensive suggestion. They are murderers of the worst kind.

But I refuse to blame all Muslim people for the actions of a few terrorist people who claim to be acting in the faith when simply they aren't. Do you not wonder where all the intel comes from that avert such acts in Australia? From the Muslim community itself.

Just as I don't blame all Christians for the Spanish Inquisition, nor the mutilation girls in particular by the Coptic Christians in Africa, nor the abuse of kids by Priests and Ministers. And so on.

Yes its more complicated than that but lots of people will think by doing the 1-10 the problem will go away.

Didn't imply that anyone in this thread thinks this way. Read the news articles about rejoicing in some parts.

Thanks for clarifying. Of course the terrorists are rejoicing as they achieved their purpose. Which makes them - terrorists.

That has got to be a huge concern around the world regardless of background? It is already happening here with children of migrants preferring allegiance to their parents place of birth over the country where they were born and live.

So very sad-
A survivor of the 7/7 London bombings was found dead hours after the Manchester Arena attack – amid fears he took his own life after being overwhelmed by the horror.
Tony Walter, 52, was discovered dead at his home after failing to turn up to work the day after suicide bomber Salman Abedi murdered 22 people and injured a further 116 at the Manchester Arena.
