Apparently it was 15 years ago and that loophole was “enhanced”.Insight, At 8.30pm tonight on SBS, has a fellow who found a loophole in NAB ATM and managed to withdraw MILLIONS of dollars that were not his!
With the gaming we do with points and loopholes, I’m sure this will appeal to many of us on AFF.
Apparently it was 15 years ago and that loophole was “enhanced”.
Will be the same story but this is his interview. Sounds like he had multiple attempts at fessing up and bank wouldn’t respond.Wasn't there a story about this in the news a few years ago? From memory, the person who did it was caught, convicted of fraud and did jail time.
Is this the same story re-hashed or a different story? From memory the story a few years ago was about a man who worked out that there was a certain time of night and/or early morning when the ATMs were briefly offline ... or something like that?
They did and he did time (after pocketing over $1.6m (so not “millions” - unless they’re adjusting for inflation as click bait). Will be the same story but this is his interview. Sounds like he had multiple attempts at fessing up and bank wouldn’t respond.
Though true if looking at the amount in dongs, INR or baht etc. They did and he did time (after pocketing over $1.6m (so not “millions” - unless they’re adjusting for inflation as click bait).
No wonder he did time.

Mrs SS had the reverse experience when withdrawing $300 from St George in Crows Nest in Sydney on Sunday using her Macquarie debit card. Account debited but no cash dispensed - the cash tray did not even open. Machine did provide a receipt showing the amount debited.
I have been shortchanged a few times.I had a similar experience a couple decades ago at an ATM that short changed me. I immediately rang the bank and explained what happened. They got back to me next day after the branch opened and staff had a look saying money was stuck in chute and reversed the difference in debit.
