There certainly is a lack of investigation by journalists.i have just done a quick search on flightstats-
Track Flight Status for (AF) Air France 256
The flight took off 15 minutes after scheduled departure time,so probably 10 minutes after for pushback. This backs up the Air france claim the plane left CDG 10 minutes late and not the quoted passenger who declared pax where in the extremely hot plane for 90 minutes at Paris.
After takeoff there is no way the temp remained at the claimed 35C with outside temps at altitude well below zero. The plane diverted to Bucharest because of the man's illness so conditions on the ground in Bucharest was responsible for the man's illness.
Now I read a report that i can no longer find that initially Romanian officials at first would not agree to the other pax deplaning and later when it was allowed herding them into a baggage area.I did find another news article that alluded to this-
Death flight passengers 'were abandoned' | News.com.au Top stories | News.com.au
It also now appears a replacement plane was sent to Bucharest because of the auxiliary power failure. So there are 2 separate stories here.
First an 85 yr old man gets sick then dies on a plane.Sad but it does happen all to often.
Second is that because of the diversion the other pax have endured a very stressful time made worse by the air con failure. But is it all AFs fault?Did Romanian authorities really deny pax the opportunity to deplane?Probably we will never know the true facts.
