Malaysian Airlines QFF earn table

Some surprises but I think the discussions we have had mentioned that it was going to be restrictive.

My main concern is the limited earning economy classes and then at a very reduced rate with only "Y" earning 100%. Hmmm.

I used to be a loyal dog to QF until it demanded my loyalty. So glad they made me open my eyes.

How is flying with another airline (MH) on a route that QF also service being loyal to QF? :)

Do QF service SYD-KUL? Do they service KUL (or for that matter) SE Asia to Europe?

I think everyone gets what QF (and/or MH) have done with this. But I can understand why some may feel that a little bit of their candy has been taken from them.

Double points offer with Malaysia Airlines

To celebrate the launch of Malaysia Airlines joining oneworld[SUP][SUP]®[/SUP][/SUP] and the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, for a limited time we're offering Qantas Frequent Flyers the opportunity to earn double points[SUP]*[/SUP] on eligible[SUP]^[/SUP] flights and fares with Malaysia Airlines

What do I have to do?

  • Travel on an eligible Malaysia Airlines flight and fare between 15 February and 15 April 2013
  • Ensure your Qantas Frequent Flyer number is entered into your booking
Then you'll earn double the number of points that you would ordinarily earn for your travel - it's that simple

Important information:
You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn and redeem points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and the earning and redemption of points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program
* To be eligible for this offer you must travel on an eligible flight and fare on Malaysia Airlines between 15 February and 15 April 2013. Bookings are subject to availability. Points are earned on eligible flights with a Malaysia Airlines flight number on your ticket. Codeshare flights operated by airlines other than oneworld Alliance Airlines are not permitted. Bonus points will not be awarded on connecting domestic flights on the Qantas network. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer number must be recorded at the time of booking. Qantas may extend the offer. Bonus points may take up to six weeks after completion of your travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
^ Restrictions apply to the earning of points with Malaysia Airlines. See the Airline Earning Table for eligible flights and earning classes. Qantas Frequent Flyer points may not be earned on Qantas & Partner Classic Seat Awards, some fare types or on some oneworld alliance or airline partner flights. The total points you earn depends on how far you travel and your cabin class.

Selected routes only.

"Y" earns 25% on selected routes
So that is one anomaly. Overall I think economy earning looks poor on most routes considering YBH are the most expensive economy classes.

Y - earns 100% (some earn 25%)
BH - earns 50% (some earn 25%)
KMLV - earns 25% all the time

And the rest of economy classes? At least one is able to earn SCs on above classes.

It never ceases to amaze me how complex getting on a plane and staying loyal has become.
I used to be a loyal dog to QF until it demanded my loyalty. So glad they made me open my eyes.
Very good point DaveB. I think lately many businesses, not just QF, have been demanding loyalty rather than earning it. And, totally off topic, but employers seem to be doing the same!
Cheers

Can anyone explain to me if, or will Hong Kong be listed as a points earner?

Actual longer question is on the facebook page, but the short version is tgat we will later in the year trsvel from Hong Kong to Kota ....... ..... .... (in Malaysia).

Other then tbe listed locations, Hong Kong isnt noticed.

While the QFF points earn is low on these flights at least they still earn the SC's per the sector traveled distance, which is the important point as you can't get them any other way then by BIS. Sure we would all like every fare class to earn max QFF points but that is never going to happen, and at least the SC's get us closer to, or help us keep, the QFF status.

One anomoly is that 'S', missing from QFF, does earn on some airlines. N, O and Q looks to be missing from everyone.

To me this sets a dangerous precedent. Could it be likely that the same sort of thing is applied to CX flights (i.e. a reduced earning scale for flights Australia-Hong Kong//Hong Kong-Europe/Middle East) to try and force those who want full frequent flyer points to fly on QF/EK?

Mile earning in MH fares. AA is best

Hi...
Being relatively new here I've not got a clue what all this stuff is about, but I would be interested to know how many Qantas points I'm going to earn when I fly from Kuala Lumpur to London and back in June this year on Malaysia Airlines.
They are "V" class tickets whatever that means.
Thanks :)

Approx 1700 points (25% of miles flown) and 40 status credits each way.

Gee is that all....3400 points return...not much is it!
Thanks anyway Oliver.

You'd get around 4700 (each way) if you credit to Enrich. Might be a better option if you don't need the QF status credits; and if you have an Amex card that lets you transfer points to MH their availability of award flights is generally much better than QF, esp in J and F classes.

From an earn and burn perspective AA might be the best.
