Just a short trip report to let others see what Malaysia Airlines are currently doing in Business Class.

Sorry no pics for the KUL to BKK flight - only had pics of the Radisson hotel Bangkok which I will also include.

MH138
Boeing 777-200
ADL-KUL
1530-2015 7hr 15min
Saturday 7 November 2009
Seat 2K

This is my first flight on Malaysia Airlines and took advantage of MH's great Economy Plus airfare deal where you get to fly Business Class with nearly all the perks for the price of a full fare Economy ticket.

Sorry but unfortunately there are no pics of Adelaide airport or Qantas Business lounge but am sure they can be found on Airliners net somewhere.

Checked in using the Business Class line - no one in front of me where Economy Class line had about 20 people or so waiting and shuffling to check in. With the Economy Plus deal I was only allowed 25kg instead of the usual 30kg with Business Class but I was well under that allowance.

Went straight to the Qantas Business Lounge where the Lounge Dragon took my lounge Invitation and pointed to the entrance (she was actually quite friendly and helpful but don't tell Qantas that as they might get rid of her! ;) )...there they had the usual snacks and drinks available - it seems that everyone there was on my flight - there was about 10 of us in all and spread over the lounge but it still looked very empty.

Malaysia Airlines operate Boeing 777-200 out of Adelaide and they seem to be kept in good condition - sorry I didnt take note of the aircraft registration - tried to take a pic but it's not that clear. :(

Ready for boarding

Once boarded I was shown to my seat by the FA and offered a pre-take off drink - I chose the Mango Juice (also had apple juice too) as I dont drink alcohol so not sure what the Champagne Drappier Carte D'or NV tasted like. Take off was nice and smooth - find most Asian carriers have smooth take offs and landings.

PB070006.jpg

Not much leg room - passengers have to unbuckle and take 2 steps just to reach the magazine in the seat front pockets!!

PB070010.jpg

Those seats are just too close to mine!!

PB070008.jpg

A view of the cabin.

The entertainment system had a few glitches as some of us could only get the take off music track - for 7 hours I wasn't going to listen to that - the Cabin Manager appologised to each of us personally (all FA's used our surnames throughout the flight) then over the PA for Economy Class after which it ran perfectly for the remainder of the flight.

As MH had previously had a First Class on these aircraft but subsequently removed, (the First Class toilet was left in place) gives Business Class passengers alot of room between rows. The chairs are electronically controlled lay flat (9 degree angled) - the massage function lasts 10 mins so I had to keep pressing it over and over and over again - cruel punishment!!

PB070020.jpg

Aigner handcream and aftershave (someone had stolen the large bottle of women's eau de toilette so not in pic).

PB070019.jpg

Extra combs and boxes of those ladies things we men arent meant to look into or know about - Notice the big blue button for the bidet, the Business Class toilets near the galley dont have this function.

PB070021.jpg

The large handbasin (the size of a small babies bath) and the large handwash bottle.

Malaysian Satay served with cucumber and raw onion in a dipping peanut sauce

PB070016.jpg

Appetizer - King Prawn and Salmon Salad accompanied with avocado and garnish.

PB070017.jpg

Main Course - Thyme marinated Tenderloin enhanced with creamy peppercorn sauce and roasted vegetables.

The other choices were Chicken ballotine with pine nut stuffing served with mashed potato, asparagus and roasted pumkin, or King prawn with coconut grave with fragrant jasmine rice and wok tossed vegetables, or Indian style vegetables curry with biryani rice, chick peas and crispy onions.

PB070018.jpg

Dessert - Fresh fruit pavlova with passionfruit coulis.

Light refreshment a few hours later was Lamb and rosemary pie (very nice but sorry no pics) or vegetable and ricotta tart.

As there is no connecting flight from KUL to BKK after we landed MH placed Business Class passengers in the Pan Pacific Hotel right at the airport - Economy passengers were bussed off to a hotel closer to the city - sorry dont know which one they use.

The next morning made my way by buggy over to the airport to check into the KUL to BKK flight. 7.30am on a Sunday is still busy for Business Class check in. From the check in counter made my way over to the Regional Business Class Lounge in the main terminal.

Arriving in BKK at 10.30am to a very quiet airport I was given an express entry card so spent about 30 mins collecting my bags to stepping into the taxi to be whisked (well if you ever had a Thai taxi ride is more like raced) to the hotel Radisson.

The hotel was great and not too far away from everything. If I went to Bangkok again I would definately stay there again!

Great TR.

FYI the rego of the B772 looks to be 9M-MRM. Some of the MH T7's are kept in better knick than others.

Once again thanks for the TR

A really good TR.No need for the apologies. Most of us forget to take out our cameras at times. You got the obligatory QF009 feet shot and that is all that counts.:)
