A 7.0 magnitude earthquake at Anchorage. (May be pay-walled ... salient point)

Roads are blocked, several buildings are alight and other have been avacuated after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake ripped through Anchorage, Alaska.

The initial earthquake caused lamp posts and trees to sway, prompting people to run out of offices and seek shelter under office desks. Several powerful aftershocks have since rippled through the city and surrounding areas.

Anchorage Police have issued a statement, warning: “There is major infrastructure damage across Anchorage … many homes and buildings are damaged. Many roads and bridges are closed. Stay off the roads if you don’t need to drive.”

Hard to fathom how the white jug stayed on that desk. Wonder how the moose population coped?

Mostly sideways motion I guess, but yes, a noticeable anomaly.

Here's another video. Notice how the truck initially starts bobbing up and down. Then there is a brief pause, then it starts shaking back and forth. I'd love to say that the first is the faster moving P wave then the slower, secondary S wave but the sense of motion of those 2 are reverse of what we see. :( Phooey.
