Except, it’s REALLY easy to earn QFF status without spending shed loads with them.
So long as you can get the four “squiggles” (eligible sectors), you don’t need to step foot on another QF aircraft. As PC, I get squiggles on reward flights, so even easier!
Oh, no doubt about that. I get QF plat year after year by flying on QR a lot, some domestic QF and on odd occasions long haul where QF is the best choice (eg to JNB). And, yes PC too, so Award SYD-CGK-SYD and the like (strategy I borrowed from you) makes it easier.
I’ve already worked out that my last 3 or so year spend that retained QF WP was significantly less than VA require and without the 50% VA coded flights. And that wasn’t relying on significant DSCs (actually very few).
My VA Plat was from a big year of visiting family in Brisbane, but that's not going to continue as much, so I'll lose it, both under the old system, and the new. I guess that's why I'm not stressed as much as some. I know you've done the calc for comparison, but I'd never come up with that comparative figure; I fly where I fly and the devil take the hindmost.
