You don't ever buy a specific seat, on a specific flight, operated by a specific aircraft type, to a specific destination, on a specific date, at a specific time.
All you ever buy is "a bundle of rights".
The contents of the bundle are subject to enhancement.

Sure there is that.

But what QF postulates and what legislative or judicial authority determines is often wildly divergent. If you pay more for the QF codeshare (v CI fare direct) because it comes with a bigger bundle of rights then afterwards QF says you can have a smaller bundle they will lose.

Even basic PP lounge access is what USD25-65, so QF F lounge is worth more. Even more when guesting privileges are considered. QF either make it right for @XavierP or they lose in tribunals and public opinion once again.

Now, if the QF codeshare tix were purchased after the change to access rules then yes, probably a travel mistake. Would still be nice for QF to offer some ‘consideration’ as a gesture of good will, but we know that in Mascot-land that is only a last resort.

If your guest is ticketed on a QF flight number operated by a oneworld airline, are they booked on a "oneworld marketed and operated flight" or not?

Yes they are. That one is pretty simple to interpret - just expand it out - it requires booked on a flight marketed by a oneworld member and operarted by a oneworld member - so a oneworld sold/ticketed/flight number on metal operated by a oneworld member.

That criteria is actually the OneWorld lounge access policy, not QF specific.

Would be interesting to understand when you booked and when they changed the access rules.

No longer having access to the QF lounge before initial departure in Australia would seem a material change to what you have purchased. If you booked before the change, is your booking ‘grandfathered’ under the previous access rules?

This is especially so if you paid more for the QF codeshare flight than you would otherwise have paid by purchasing direct from CI. The QF/CI relationship appears to be a basic interline one now so why would anyone purchase the QF codeshare flights on CI?

I believe I overlooked this. My booking was recent 2 months ago (from memory) so it is something I booked and only to realise AFTER that QF won't honour this. I am still to understand the why but I guess it doesn't matter; all businesses make their own rules. At the least, someone might read this thread and thus help them not to make the same error.
