Made any travel mistakes lately?

Don't be given a passport and not check it before putting it back in its holder and back in your bag without checking its yours, even if someone says here is your passport. $100 error and about 40 minutes of lounge time lost. Meant that security that might have taken 30 minutes I was through in 5 minutes.
My main suitcase is just on regulation size for carry on international and don't take greater 100mm of any liquids.

Also try and get your main phone number as an esim so when you visit another country you can still receive calls on your normal number and then use the new purchased sim for data. Missed a call which would have helped in returning a hire car as call centre agent was reading off a script and didn't know the area, probably would have saved about 30minutes driving around in circles.

Not booking airport parking earlier this week.
Speaking of parking...I booked ages ago the value car park at MEL for the recent long weekend. My VA flight to SYD was cancelled so we arrived an hour later than originally planned. Allegedly there were spaces at D,E & F. We drove up and down every aisle...not a single space. The car park was full of people hunting and was completely full to the fence lines.

In the end I drove back to the entry gate where the 2 employees who had been standing next to the ticket barrier had said nothing - I already had an inkling of the situation because there was a woman yelling at them through the fence when we drove in.

After a bit of discussion they gave me a ticket for the short stay car park, as they have done proactively on at least one other occasion when the value car park was full. Well the situation was just as bad in the short stay...completely full to the roof...people everywhere looking for spaces. All the information signs were showing nonsense numbers re available spaces on each floor...they were consecutive, like Level 2 205, Level 3 206, Level 4 207, Level 5 208 and so on! Finally I happened to be in the right place when someone returned to their car - of course they sat and had a chat to their passenger for a few minutes while I sat with my indicator on!

Mistake: parking at MEL airport on a long weekend. Never happening again!

First time ever I forgot to pack my small pocket knife in to my checked luggage. It was a gift from my grandmother many, many years ago, so high sentimental value. Luckily I was able to post it home (25 Euros! 😒), so now I have my fingers crossed, hoping it arrives safely.
I won't forget again!
Mr Seat 0A made a similar mistake with a personally engraved Swiss Army knife I had given him in 1982 (before we were married) in Japan a few years back. He took it back to check in where they carefully packed it in bubble wrap and inserted the whole thing it into a medium sized carton which they sent as checked baggage. It arrived safely in SYD. Phew!

At Vienna Airport, the postal desk is right behind the security check-in and the security officer immediately suggested I could post my knife home, so I'm obviously not the only one who forgets. 😁

Transiting in DXB and had to get from A to C terminal. Had a moderate transfer time between J flights, so thought I would pub crawl my way between terminals. Rejected at lounge in A, likewise in B, and again at 1st lounge in C. Finally accepted into their most plain lounge closest to departure gate. Can’t wait to transit through HKG again.

Why didn’t they let you in?

Amex plat travel credit of $450. Thought it expired at the end of this month, logged in to use it and it expired yesterday. Amex have basically said too bad it can't be re instated even though I have previously been told that its possible to re instate or extend the credit.

Ring again and get another agent and get it escalated if necessary.

I escalated to a sup in an Australia call centre and he pretty much said "too bad mate I have the same card and even I know to use it in time" and that it was only a covid offer to extend them I have submitted a complaint through amex and also through afca hoping to get some movement from them as its been one day and to quote another agent from two years ago "you pay for the credit in the annual fee so even if we need to put it as a statement credit if you cant use it to travel its yours"

The T&C's are fairly clear though I feel that you need to use it or lose it in its validity period.
