Macquarie Visa Platinum - 40,000 points for $5000 spend - $99 1st Yr Fee

I received a phone call last week to ask for a payslip, which I emailed within 15 minutes. My card arrived yesterday and has now been activated.

Fairly painless, although a little slow.

My one complaint is that the credit limit is a little low, but no reason one can't top it up with BPay.

I received my card last week. I thought my credit limit was a little high at just under $20,000, which is about double what I usually get.

On activation they confirmed the 40,000 Qantas points offer and waived the $50 Qantas Rewards fee without asking (first year only).

The disappointing thing is that you can't select your own PIN. I'll be signing!

What an absolute night nightmare of a card. Applied 03Aug, supplied all details by mid August, approved 17 Sep. Numerous phone calls and on holds and promised callbacks. Just totally inefficient and inept at all levels.

They initially would not agree to the 2x 20000pts, sorry you missed out by a day that offer expired on the 16th September. Won that battle after a week, now fighting for the $50 rewards fee, which was NOT mentioned anywhere in the T&C, with no callback as promised. Asked them to cancel it several times but they keep dragging it out.

Won't be activating until they do. And the cheek of them by saying we are doing me a favour by giving me the pts offer. NO you are not doing me a favour, I am only trying to get what you initially offered me. FFS.

My advice, stay clear of Macquarie Bank. I don't mind doing a bit of legwork and spend some time to get a good deal, but this is just totally unbelievable. Rant over.

This offer has been relaunched with a closing date of 13 December. After seeing some of the comments in this thread though I'm fearful of the bureaucracy and wondering if it will be worth it. It was such a pain for Virgin Money, I don't think I can put myself through that again.

had a request for latest payslip about two weeks ago, no further correspondance until the black envelope with the card arrived yesterday. Card was activated this morning and with no prompting told I was elligible for the 40,000 bonus points, provided my QFF number and away we go. Quite painless.

I had to call Macquaire Manilla today about something else, so when on the line I asked them about the QFF offer.

Based on the website when I applied I thought I had the 30 September offer date, but it turns out that I actually have the same offer with the 30 November date. For those of you who have a long approval process, it may pay to ask when you activate what the offer details are.

FWIW, I have easily spent the $5k, so have qualified for 20k+20k QFF points, but its good to know I actually had a bit longer if I needed it.

Lucky you. I had similar experience and received the black envelope the same time as you did. Tried to activate it only to be told the approval date had to be prior to 16Sep13. Told the girl in Manila to escalate, all she was interested in was to try to get me to transfer my balance from another account. So far, nothing back from MacQuarie so the battle continues....

I got my card late last week and was confirmed to be on the 20+20 QFF promotion. My $5k spend date is 30th November. Let the shopping begin!

Yes, got my card too last night and confirmed in the November promo. Interesting new promo even better (+2 lounge passess and a 2.99% balance transfer deal) so not sure it would have concerned me too much to be on that deal.

For me may just be one ATO payment to get me to the 5K spend!

Will you guys renew this card when renewal comes or will you just cancel it?

Apart from the 40K promotion points there is no strong reason for me to use this card, so answer is sometime after points post and before annual fee is due!

+1 on that.
I have found problem management system to be totally useless (6 months later & still no online account access for me).

Seems like there has been a fair bit of trouble with this card in the past however my recent experience has been great.

Signed up at the beginning of October online. Made a couple of calls to the call centre to ensure everything was happening and emailed my payslips after about 2 days. Got my card a week later. Total time from applying to having the card in my hand was only 7 business days. Got my pin and online banking info 2 days after the card and is working with no problems. So far everything in the offer has been confirmed verbally with no issues, $99 annual fee, no Qantas Rewards fee ever, 20k + 20k points, 1 QFP for $1 spend, 2 Qantas Club Entries etc.

Only issue is that the second lot of 20k points and the Qantas Clubs entries won't be available until January. Guess they want to make sure you stick around for a while without cancelling. Fingers crossed all goes to plan and I get the points etc.

edit: Just checked and the first 20k points have hit my QF account :)

Are you sure you aren't a Macquarie plant? Your experience just seems vastly different to everyone else's. It took me 2 months to get the card, and certainly havent got my first bonus points yet but not really expecting to yet as my first CC cycle not reached and their T&C's state 8 weeks.

Aside from that I had no issue with the card/pin/internet banking though.

If this is the new "normal" may get my wife to apply too!

No plant, just saw pretty much all negative posts so I thought I would offer up my positive experience, maybe I'm just lucky or they have cleaned up there act slightly  I did stay on their case with a couple of phone calls and even rang them up to send my payslips before they rang me about it. Obviously its a Asian call centre (sounds Philippine but not sure) and it can a little tricky but much better then my experiences with the likes of Citibank etc. Take it or leave it, that was my experience.

I only just saw the first 20k point posted today. I couldn't believe it either, as I haven't even gotten my first statement yet. I did have some expenses lined up for it and have managed to drop almost 8k in spending on it since I got it so maybe I got bumped up the queue :)

Has anyone applied for this card as a self employed person and, if so, how was proof of income confirmed - financials, call to your accountant?

+ 1 - would love to hear from a self employed / company owner who has applied and been successful?

Not as self employed but close, I own my own company (sole director). They asked for last years tax return (mine not the companies).
