Perhaps they are stalling so that they can issue the cards in late October-middle November and make it more difficult for people to spend the required $5,000 to get the points?

You give them way too much credit. My impression is that they are just terribly, embarrassingly inefficient.

Having worked there (fairly temporarily) at one stage I was amazed at how low tech they were behind the scenes so this assessment sounds reasonable.

Applied for JQMC a month or so ago, credit file was pinged by Macquarie about 2 days after the application. Got rejected. No payslips requested. Just a direct rejection. Credit file is clean, no defaults, not too many credit enquiries. I've heard tell about JQMC being rejected if one "earns too much" (i.e. seems like a customer who'll pay the balance in full).

Is there any point in pursuing it further (re. the JQMC) or applying for this credit card?

How interesting!
I have been rejected for this and Jetstar card. Maybe I should put a lower income this time?

Edit to add: see how I go having cut 25% off my income :)

I think you need to pay for a VedaScore Mr Newk.

LOL. I am tempted. But the issue is that I KNOW my position and the household income and our debt servicing ability. And seriously if they are refusing me credit it's their systems that are wrong. :). So I'm a bit unsure what I'd gain. Except proof of what I already know.

Perhaps they are stalling to approve in Sept so nobody gets any points....

To be eligible for this offer, you must apply and be approved for a Macquarie Visa Platinum Card by 11.59pm AEDT 31 August 2013

Apparently the offer has been extended to the 30 September 2013 due to the large number of applications received.

For the record, has anyone actually been approved for this offer so far? It's been 3 weeks for me and still haven't heard anything.

I just called up today to check on the application status and was told I was approved (on the 3rd Sep) and should be getting a confirmation form in the mail soon.

approval letter received today in the mail.
card pending.

Radio silence here (8 business days since application).

How long did the letter take?

I applied about ten days ago. Today they are phoning up for income verification.

Card activated.
Had to prompt to be put into QF rewards instead of default Macquarie rewards.
Advised there as a $50p.a. charge to go into the QF rewards.
The paperwork received with the card indicates this also, wasn't mentioned in the sign-up/offer email as far as I remember....

Applied 19th Aug, was approved on 29th but called them after 2-3 of my application and was told to scan a copy of my payslip which sped up the progress.

Card has arrived currently using it tho paypass doesn't work, thought paywave was the same thing guess not need to call and chase it up.

Was told over the phone this fee would be waved for the first year when while Opt in upon activation can't confirm till check my statement.

I must be one of the lucky(ish) ones. Applied 3 weeks ago. 1 week later got a call to email/fax them a single copy of a pay slip. 2 weeks later with absolute silence the card arrived. When calling to activate the consultant said that my application was not this (thread) offer and I had to push to get this 40k point deal. This should of been a sign that this was not going well...
I also asked for them to waive the $50 QFF fee as I cannot see it on the Macquarie page, perhaps it is somewhere in November 31? The consultant wouldn't budge but did offer to escalate the enquiry about the $50 fee. The bonus 20k worth of points she said would take about 60 days to appear on my QFF account.

For anyone else who has this problem suggest you complain in writing and threaten to go to FOS, they will address your problem quick smart.
