Mackay Airport

For those interested, I flew to Mackay on Monday (up on VA, back on QF) and snapped these photos:

Inside the terminal, the old VA Lounge



The Qantas Lounge is up the stairs opposite the VA Lounge . No signage. As a regional, it’s open from an hour before first departure until 9am, then 10:30am to 1.00pm (closes after Brisbane departure), then opens again for the afternoon flights (I got back there at 4pm. For 5.20pm departure).

Mackay is the sort of place where you're surprised if baggage collection is any more sophisticated than the cart driving up to where people are waiting to grab their luggage ... and it has a hotel!

Did someone build a multi-storey car-park at the wrong latitude & longitude, and instead of pulling it down when they realised their mistake, block-in the outer walls & call it an Ibis?

It’s actually a decent hotel! I’ve stayed there a couple of times.

I would agree, restaurant is great and rooms are well equipped
