I have convinced my mother to see the light and she has bought a Mac Mini. The trouble is I can't seem to find a good bridge program for her that does not cost a fortune. There is BridgeBaron, but at $65 is a bit steep.

The last program she used on a MS-PC was 'Jack 4.0' which is admittedly a few years old but fit the bill nicely.

I have had a look at the app store and there is not much to choose from either.

Does anyone have any experience with the ones on the App store, or any others that are available?
She is running OSX 10.8.2.

I tried to find a less than kosher version of bridge baron but wouldn't work post OSX Lion.

Finally getting back about this. Mum uses an online program on iPad: BBO bridge base. She also mentioned something call Bridge Lite.

The other option could be running parallels then Windows and getting a cheap windows bridge game?

It is something I considered. Whilst I appreciate the suggestion, I am trying very hard to avoid that. As far as my support of my mother's Mac goes, I would like to keep the Maciverse as simple as possible.

My mother uses Bridge Baron, as you mentioned the price is a bit steep, but it is meant to be one of the best that is available. The ipad app is more reasonably price - $20 iirc.

I didn't realise there was such a disparity in the pricing. She bought herself an iPad a few months ago, so I may suggest that as an option. Thx

Woolies here in Adelaide has 20% off iTunes cards. If either or both is purchased via the App Store that would be a nice discount. Happy to pick some up for you if needed.
