Flew QF836 MEL DRW today which took off on time at 0910. 30 mins in I was asked by cabin crew what I'd like for lunch, beef or chicken? Lunch!? On a 0910 flight? Something with a bit of egg in it would have been good.

11:30am!!!

Some of the Hilton brands I've been staying at recently finish breakfast, sharply, at 10:00am.

At my usual arrival time of about 9:45am to 9:50am, I was pretty much the last guest. :)

I think if airline servings are going to be done after about 09:30am on a domestic flight, it's getting a bit late for breakfast.

Of course, on international flights it's all over the place! :)

I posted previously in the QFF meals thread showing my breakfast served at 12.30pm. Fair enough, the flight was slightly delayed, but breakfast would have been served at 11.30am if flight had departed on time. I thought breakfast at that time of the day was ridiculous - just as lunch at 9.40am is.

What time was it actually served? I’m guessing closer to 11.

Really don’t want to criticise QF as most airlines are doing the opposite, and lunch is normally a better meal than breakfast on a plane.

I *think* MEL-DRW, scheduled flight time of 4h 30m, or vice versa is currently QF's longest domestic flight?

That might have a bit to do with it ...

I think BNE-PER or SYD-PER is the longest in the domestic system (one of them is blocked at around 5 hours)

I think I've heard that "lunch" is also served on a BNE-PER service leaving at around the same time as the OP's stated flight. (I think there was a post in the QF Business meals thread)

There is a second offering later in the flight. Usually just an ice cream or similar.

Also the flight is scheduled to land in DRW at 1:10pm, which is 1:40pm, Melbourne time. Quite late for lunch for many.

What is QF supposed to serve? Two meals, maybe?
