Anyone got a tip on best places in Sydney to get a wheely bag.

Ta,

Cant speak for sydney specifically, but we recently picked up a heap of Antler luggage at almost half price from Strandbags.

It must have been a good price b/c the saleslady scanned the bags we were buying, then looked at total price, then triple checked it - she even commented on how good a price it was!

Strandbags have been having continuous sale for many months now. Think baggage is one of those things you never pay full price!

Snowgum in Kent St may be worth a look. Carry a few exclusive lines

Depends on what you're looking for. There are plenty of "cheap and nasty" types at Paddy's Market in the city, otherwise RB's suggestion is a good one if Strandbags is having a sale - when they discount, they *really* go to town (there must be some very high margins in luggage).

There was a store in Birkenhead Point which seemed to have a wide range at reasonable prices. (I was last there Xmas last year).

Arrowmaster on Bonds Road, Riverwood (if you are down south-west) used to have a decent range at discount prices (I haven't been there for years though).

Strandbags or Zelows - there are many franchise outlets in SYD and suburbs. Also Department stores like DJs or Myer. Depends on what you want and what you are prepared to pay. There are many sales on at the moment. I think the luggage retailers are doing it tough at present.

Thanks guys, am in Kent street so just wandered off to to look there, then over to Strandbags and got a wheely duffle for $125 on special.

It's for the "little princess" so a red one was in order, although I can see myself taking it back for a leopard skin print or pink one when I'm told red isn't bright enough.

Strandbags looks to be doing the deals to get the product moved.

I got 6 years use out of a $35 suitcase and in the last 6 months I have gone through 2 cheap suitcases the latest one after only 3 flights. I am going to Vulture St, West End to see if this one can be repaired at QFs expense but considering the price I paid it is almost not worth repairing it.

I have been thinking about buying a brand name suitcase and I don't know much about quality or the pricing.

I had a look at Standbags and see that they have Antler Aeon Air 72cm Exp Up and Antler Tagara 71cm Exp Up for $285. If checked on Bagworld and these suitcases are priced at $169. What is the best price I could expect to pay for these suitcases? It may seem like a lot of money but with 7 years warranty it can be a good investment. Any ideas on a reputable store? I want to avoid purchasing off the internet if at all possible.

John, we bought the Aeon Air. $169 is a good price for the large case. We paid about that just before christmas (might have been more like $180). We also got about the same relative discount on a medium suitcase, a carry-on case and a suit bag. We then bought another suit bag in the cbd for about $120.

Was passing strandbags at dfo and chermside yesterday - prices now not as good (around $220 for the large case). Were your prices online? You shouldnt be paying $265 in a store for them.

I'd take the $169 if it's available actually.

Try Peter's of Kensington

They have a online store and their 'normal' prices are generally lower than department or luggage stores

I quickly looked online yesterday. As a general rule I do not trust and try to avoid online shopping. I would prefer to purchase from a store.
I realised that the 71cm-72cm suitcases are a little too big and I think these 63cm or 64cm Antler suitcases for ~$150 should just about do the trick.
Antler Jupiter Medium 63cm Suitcase

Antler - Aeon Air Black Expandable Roller Case 64cm

Peter's of Kensington has a store on Anzac Parade in Kensington/Randiwck

I picked up the 64cm Antler Aeon Air in grey for $151 last Saturday - its quite lightweight and warranty issues are handled by the store too.

The link above is for the exact same suitcase from Pater's of Kensington.

A workmate ordered from Peters from Kensington and has had no problems with his hard case suitcase. They just shipped it in a large cardboard box.

Another mob, in Brisbane worth trying is Welcome - they have a physical store in West End.

I know this is an old thread but the Peters of Kensington caught my eye. They tend to have great prices and good quality.
Having finally decided to up grade my carry on bags bought the Antler Translite with one pulling handle. Great ideas except that "matching" Litestream tote - plus all others I own - won't stay on the one handled case. A hard lesson when you are at the beginning of a 6 weeks trip on the move.:-|

Opps :( yes that would be a problem.

I tend to stay away from those wheelie bags and go for a shoulder strap but i may once again look at wheelie with the new 'light' tumi range.... may check it out today.

I rarely carry a laptop bag my the wheel aboard any more. Aside from having to balance it somewhat it adds the the weight you have to carry.

As per Evan, I find it easier to simply shoulder strap it. From there I can easily access the documents I need for immigration/checkin etc..

Sorry for delay in replying. Unfortunately I have to carry a fairly heavy CPAP machine (sleep apnoea) on board with me for even overnight stays. It's too heavy to put over my shoulder and if I put more stuff in it it weighs a tonne!
And the one handle seemed such a nice modern idea at the time!
