Lufthansa Pseudo RTW Fare

Yes it does look like only to LAX not JFK.However once in LOTFAP the old YUP fares will add the necessary SCs anyway and still will come out cheaper than a DONE4.

I must have confused this fare with the LX one.

Pity the LX fare now no longer allows QF transpacific in J or F (as of 2 months ago). LX person said this was due to "low yields."

Does the fare allow QF all the way to JFK? The fare rules originally posted by Travel Guru indicate that only MEL/SYD/BNE-LAX and SYD-SFO are valid US routings on QF.

You are only allowed a single LANDING in North America. You can have 2 landings in the LOTFAP if you transit through Hawaii.

Hmm yet another enhancement! :( Clearly I'm out of touch with this fare and need to re-examine the rules as you used to be able to do it via the US both ways. Was a breeze maintaining SEN status that way. Then again back then you could only use TG/UA/LH.

It would be good to know if it is possible both ways, I was considering via South America and North America, if it does not exceed MPM.

I assume this means AC33 YYZ-YVR-SYD would not be allowed?

No. But there are LH flights between FRA and YVR, so you could fly Europe to YVR on LH & then YVR-SYD on AC.

You are also allowed surface segments, so you could fly FRA-YYZ with LH and then pick up a cheap flight YYZ-YVR at you own expense.

Thanks, I am always amazed at the information on this forum. Do you know if FRA-MEX with LH is allowed?

I don't know for certain, but I expect it would be OK. I flew MEL-LAX with a surface segment to YVR, then YVR-FRA-EDN & returned LHR-FRA-SIN-MEL.

The main requirement appears to be a direct LH flight (not codeshare) between Europe and North America, and between Europe and Asia.

I might be missing the point.
But where is everyone looking these fares up?

StarAl website? LH website?

That fare seems incredible, I am considering a trip to the UK in September, SQ wanted 10kAUD return, I dont mind flying round the world to get there and back and this could be a good way to do it.

Basically the way I read it, is SQ from SYD to SIN then LH to FRA, I can then go to London, then I can either come back via Asia again or via Nth America Canada is that right?

Looking to travel J as well.

If not wanting to fly around the world, check out LX ($6599, though only $200 or so more to do the RTW version).

If *A affiliation isn't important, there's also MH ($5900), JL ($6000) and AY ($5600+++).

*A doesnt matter to much, I have low amounts of Elite Miles in my KF account so yeah not fussed, however would be keen to fly SQ Biz class, but not overly fussed.

I guessing going *A I would probably hit status if I made sure i flew a codeshare the majority of the time yeah?

Fairly new to the FF side of things.

Swiss also have a round the world deal - even cheaper than LH in J, but not so many partners.

They also have a mixed class fare (Y to from Asia/North America & J for the European legs). This was a better deal when you could fly via Asia in both directions.

AY uses CX or QF to HKG, then via HEL. Current pricing was clost to $7500 in total. Those MH and JL prices look about right, but beware the JL J seats ex-BNE are more like QF domestic J, and it's an overnight flight on the way home, with a looooong connection in Tokyo.

Frankly, the MH offer is by far the best value at the moment.

I've just priced up the AY fare (FB IFLEX2AU) which comes up to AUD6607.78. This includes taxes of AUD785.20.

The AY fare seems generous with transfers and stopovers. The other half and I want to stop in BKK on the way out and we were able to use QF via SYD.

The MH fare has the advantage of eliminating a stop each way.

I really do find these fares quite mind boggling.

How many of you are actually paying (out of your own pocket) over $5,000 for a ticket to Europe in bus class? I can understand it if your employer (that may be yourself) is paying, but otherwise?

I can (and do) get 3 RTW trips (at least 50% flights in C class) for that kind of money.

Amazing.

If possible you wouldn't be able to post some simple details? Price, booking class and carriers would be great.

Yes, I used pay for myself but work it in with a conference etc. that helps bring the personal cost down.

Coud you share how you get the deal you mention above?

Sorry to bump an old thread guys, but was just wondering if AUS>Sth America was an option one of these cheap LH fares? (SYD-EZE on QF ideally)

Yes, you can do SYD-EZE on QF using the LH fare. LX permits QF SYD-EZE but only on the whY fare.
