Lufthansa will change the status-system from 2024.
- You need to requalify every year (before 2 years) -> Big minus!
- Introduction of Lifetime FTL (30k on LH-Group) and Lifetime SEN (40k on LH-Group) -> Plus, but the requirement ist steep.
- Status-Star-Points will convert into Lifetime Statuspoints (will multiplied by 2 on 31st December 2023).
- If you hold 3 Stars you are already Lifetime FTL and if you hold 4 Stars you are Lifetime SEN
- Statuspoints based on Class of Service and Continental/Intercontinental
- Difference between LH-Group (Qualification Points) and Rest of *A (Points)
Economy: 20/60 Continental/Intercontinental
Premium Economy: 20/80
Business: 40/200
First: 40/300
FTL: 650 with Minimum 325 on LH-Group
SEN: 2000 with Minimum 1000 on LH-Group
HON: 6000 only C/F on LH-Group conts
So if you ever held an LH-Status it may be worth looking how it will convert into Lifetime Status-Points.
Things to come: Extra Status-Points for Green fares.
Be aware: North-Africa is considered as continental Europe.
New sweet-spots: Short "Lounghaul" flights as FRA-TLV or FRA-DXB.
Losers: Long-Longhaul-Flights and Premium Economy
Winners:
- Guys who fly the same amount every year,
- The ones that held LH-Status for a very long time (Lifetime-Status).
Losers:
- Milage-Runners who did milage runs to secure the LH-Status every 2 years
- Flyers with main parts on other airlines (50% of statuspoints now needed on LH).
For me: Will get Lifetime-FTL instantly and Lifetime-SEN soon. With status both in Oneworld and *A no more chasing Status and time to travel with +1 and family.
