spät ein would be mine.

I chose a random old poet off wikipedia (going on the theme that they will go the same path as qantas did)

I eventually figured, taking the path that Qantas took, that they’d choose names that best represented the history of their company. However, finding such names was a little difficult. The 2 original companies that merged to become Lufthansa had already been taken, but a third that wasn’t I chose. Hence:

Deutsche Luft-Reederei!!

I’ve since found out this company was a precursor to Deutsche Aero Lloyd, which merged with Junkers Luftverkehr to become Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft.

So I feel at least a little confident I chose an appropriate name for the first A380.

Maybe I should just suggest

Fantastisch Wagen (super bus!)

or
Großen Gefolge ( Big Wake)

I put up a suggestion a while ago ... Haven't checked it recently. It probably has 2 votes by now ;)

Hindenberg

Or go back to the airlines roots and name it after the founder of the Luftwaffe. (Red Barron?)

I am guessing Manfred Von Richthoffen and Herman Goring won't be top line choices...

Saying that a lot of german names are from bad people in history.
Adolf used to be popular name 80 years ago.

Why not just name it "Couldn't be bothered"

Does not seem to be a very good name.

Have to agree.

Unless there is a German connection that I'm missing, they might as well have called it the Ant, or the Grasshopper.

Generic names for planes need to show strong attributes. Hence why SQ called their plane types "MegaArk/MegaTop", and Qantas named their 747 ER "Longreach" etc.

Problem is that they can't exactly draw on their aviation history. How would the russian feelabout an aircarft names after that tank buster ace from WW2 or the english about goring or even the red baron? They also can't really draw on their other recent history. What else do they have, Wagner? - hitler tainted that. Prussian history? pretty militaristic and linked to WW1. That gets us going back to waterloo or even 300 years to mozart (who was austrian anyway)

so given the options Lady bee is pretty good at least the lady bee is The Queen bee.

Could have been 99 red balloons
