After having lived in DXB for four years and having not been there for quite a while, I was very keen on going to Dubai to see what has changed (and as you can surely imagine it has changed a lot!). Plus, it was a nice holiday for me and a good opportunity to try LH's retrofitted 747-400.
There is a detailed video flight report available:

But for those ones of you who prefer a written version with photos, here are some impressions:

The seats were comfortable enough for a flight duration of about six hours. I actually liked the colour scheme as it creates a nice, cozy ambience. It would be a bit unfair to compare LH with the gulf carriers and it is obvious that you cannot expect a shiny star light imitation as on most EK planes, but if you don't set high values on such things, LH is really not bad.

LH hesitated for a seemingy long time to fit their older planes with ptvs and when I saw that LH630 would be operated by D-ABVW, I immediately looked up in the Internet if it is a plane with IFE. I eventually found a list which indicated "no ptvs in Eco"... which is why I was surprised and concurrently very happy when I entered the aircraft because I was in fact sure not to have one of the retrofitted planes. Luckily I got previously wrong information on the plane. Perhaps it was fitted with the new seats just a few weeks ago.

Frankfurt Airport in the distance with our departure runway "Startbahn West" on the left side.

The four massive engines quickly lifted the full-loaded plane to FL39. From what I can tell, the 747 was sold out to the very last seat onboard.

Prior to dinner, those little pretzels were handed out by the flight attendants follwed by a drink run.

I ordered a special vegan meal online on the Lufthansa Website. This gives you the advantage to get to eat what you actually want to eat. Moreover, you are among the first passengers to be served the meal and you don't have to indulge in the "fish or chicken" decision. Being an Economy class meal, it was surprisingly good. No reason to complain. The fruit was fresh, the salad too, the roll tasted good and so did the vegan spread that was part of the meal.

The main dish was tofu with marjoram potatoes. It was tasty and delicious, as well.

Time went by very quickly and so we soon landed at Dubai intenational Airport. Landing was very smooth. *thumbs up*
Again, more details with the whole report are presented in my extended trip report video which can be found here:
