Just checking out the JQ website for possible travel to SIN next January. This is despite having given up on them when the 'business max' bundles were introduced - thought I may as well see what the state of play is these days anyway.

MEL-SIN on 17th Jan - Business fare = $699. 'Business max' bundle (remember this adds refundability - at a cost, QF business points and SCs, and (J) lounge access) - $800!!. When I first saw it I thought the total fare must be $800, but no, it is $1499. One way. When these bundles were introduced a year or so ago, I think they were priced at $200 (too much even then IMHO).

Now we can argue what the overall ticket cost should be, but $800 extra for the 'benefits' included in the bundle is way OTT in my opinion. I can only think it is a mistake. If it is not, then consider me gobsmacked.

Has anyone purchased one of these lately?

Same route next month is the same base fare with a $200 add on!

It might be a January thing. I was looking at February earlier, and that was still a $200 difference.

Jetstar must know that about the SIN do :D

Typically when the discount fare is on sale, the max fare remains the same price, so the cost of the small extra goes up significantly

Understand your point moa999, but just had a look at a July 2012 date, and it is $699 (business fare) plus $200 (max bundle) = $899 one way. So I suspect the sale factor is not an issue here.

Edit: Much as markis10 has noted.

Added the max fare a number of times on different routes and the most has been $200

Used Jetstar max package Syd-Hnl. Not sure it really offers good value. It would seem the advantages are QF status credits and use of airport lounges.

I did a max package on the SYD-HNL return run. $200 got me lounge acess, status points and cabin bonus and importantly the ability for refunds
