Lucky or policy change? SQ lounge

As I understood the policy, as VA Gold I should only have access to SQ 'owned and operated' lounges. However I am currently sitting in a partner lounge in KLIA1. I didn't ask, at check-in I was asked which of the 2 lounges I wanted and my boarding pass was reprinted.

Small win, wonder if the policy has changed?

Happened to me at KLIA1 a bit over a year ago. I considered it a monopoly style "Bank error" and enjoyed the unexpected access.

I've had this as well last year. SQ no longer have their own lounge at KUL but they have their own separate section in the Plaza Premium Lounge in the MTB, so I think that's why VA elites can access that. The annoying thing was that almost all of the SQ flights are in the Satellite terminal rather than the MTB but this shouldn't be an issue now that the inter-terminal aerotrain is working again (unless it breaks down).

Interesting. I dug out my BP from last month; I didn't expect to have any lounge access and my BP confirmed this.

This is pure speculation, but If it was an automated error then all VA Gold/Plat members would be receiving lounge access at KUL. My guess is it's a manual (human) error made by KLIA ground staff and they either:

1. assumed that VA Gold/Plat should receive 3rd party lounge access just like *A Gold members and they overrode the system which said no; or

2. assumed that VA was a *A partner and manually granted 3rd party lounge access based on *A lounge rules

Either way, good to hear that some VA members are getting lounge access at KLIA 1.
