This will show my ignorance.

On this site and flyertalk I have seen references to QP and J and F Lounges.

As a humble QFF Bronze, could someone please enlighten me as to what these terms mean?

All I know is that

1) the Qantas Club lounge at the BNE International that I went to last year was about a 10th of the size of the domestice one (but self-serve alcohol)

2) Coudn't even find the QC at AKL on the way back.

:?

QP = "Qantas Pub" - some of us use it as our "local" from time to time. :D

J lounge is the Business Class lounge.
F lounge is the First Class lounge.

Domestic QP's are not J lounges. You are only entitled to access if you are a Qantas Pub member, OW Sapphire or OW Emerald. An exception is made if you are travelling J on an international itinerary. Also, unless Qantas Platinum or higher, you need to be travelling on a QF or BA flight that day to gain access. Flying domestic J without status will NOT get you entry.

International QP's located in Australia are all J lounges, meaning that if you are travelling in J you are entitled to access. You are also entitled to access - regardless of your class of travel - if you are a QP member, OW Sapphire or OW Emerald, if your next flight is on a oneworld carrier.

Then we get to the F lounges - the "First Class Lounge".

They are available to SLC actually flying in First, and also to oneworld Emeralds or higher regardless of class of travel.

Hope this helps,

Dave

jlou,
I assume you're talking INT QC. If so it's on your right just before you trundle down the little slope towards the gates after the x-rays/customs gates. It's a little avenue/passageway that has the toilets and phones on the left, a chapel and some obscure room called the Compass Club also on the left. (BTW what is that place?). You come to the escalators and the QC (I mean the QP) is at the top of the escalators. Now its time for drinks or showers time or both, compliments of QF. :D

I knew thadocta would be in there answering this one with a big :) on his face, as he and I were part of the group who coined the phrase in the BNE QP during a meeting of FT'ers in early May 2003.

Redrat was spot on with his directions...I've no idea what the Compass Club is either (not that I can say that I have seen the name on the door - but I do know the Chapel. I always wonder when I walk past whether there is anybody in there praying that their plane will take off
