I am sure someone has asked this before, but I cannot find the thread. Leaving from LHR T4 on QF32 which leaves LHR at 12:15. As a WP which lounge is best?

The only lounges available are the Terraces Lounge at Gate 5, the Terraces Lounge or the First Lounge at the Lounge Pavillion ( near gate 14 )

As a OW Emerald member, the best lounge would be the First Lounge at the Pavillion.

(exception to this : if travelling in 1st class on QF32, you are entitled to access the Concorde Room at the Lounge Pavillion which would be the best choice )

Dave, I wish. I am hoping for an extremely unlikely points upgrade to J. But thanks for the advice.

Just remember to have your WP card with you - just in case the dragons are feeling feisty ;)

I will make sure I will always carry the QF Platinum card with me and I also have a printout of the Oneworld Lounge Access Policy in my travel documents.

On a side note I was looking at Manage My Booking on the BA website the other day and printed an itinerary from there. Has anyone noticed the entries for "After Check In"? It lists lounge access for BA flights?

Upcoming trip to BKK via SIN
  • SYD-SIN Qantas Club First Class Lounge
  • SIN-SYD Qantas/British Airways First Class Lounge
Upcoming RTW trip
  • ORD-LHR British Airways First Lounge
  • LHR-ATH British Airways First Lounge
  • ATH-LHR British Airways Terraces Lounge
  • LHR-FRA British Airways First Lounge
  • BRU-LHR British Airways Executive Club Lounge

Great find John - I think MMB is one of the best features of the BA travel experience. For me the ability to preselect seats online including exit rows is great. I actually chose BA over CX for an upcoming flight LHR-HKG for the MMB function (hoping to get NNCW but not expectign it and plan to sleep so flat bed would be better).

Does it show your access based on status JohnK or just class of travel?

Cheers

I cannot see MMB being that much of a benefit for using BA over CX. I would have thought that the free car transfer to/from LHR for using CX would be more enticing than a website. You can preselect seats on CX by phoning them, plus my experience of T1 security vs T3 fast track security would encourage me to go CX

BA MMB shows lounge access based on higher of class of travel or status. e.g. if you are a Sapphire member travelling in F, it will show you F access as would an Emerald member travelling in economy

Dave

Yep MMB customises the spiel on "After Check In" depending on your status and class of travel (eg for a Plat flying Economy, it will still show "F" lounge access etc).

Quite nice.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Mostly when flying CX out of LHR I have only been transiting so the car service isnt a big deal for me.

If I was doing a simple LHR-SYD I would probably fly QF with a punt a F points upgrade.

It does not have status printed anywhere on the itinerary so my guess is that it would calculate access based on class of travel or status and print whichever gives you better lounge access.

Another interesting point is that it shows 2x23kg as the baggage allowance for all flights on the RTW itinerary including QF, AA and AY. It must interpret it this way due to travelling through the USA.

Indeed. If the travel did not include a transatlantic sector, it would show 1*23Kg for the BA flight
