In the BNE DJ lounge today the wi-fi is requesting "today's password" just above the 'accept terms and conditions' button... Couldn't be bothered asking what it was because 3G at the airport on a dead (Saturday) afternoon is fast enough! :p

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

I was in the MEL Lounge yesterday and noticed it now asks for the daily password. Did not bother using it in the end.

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

Sounds like an all-round win for Virgin: Offer password protected wifi but, because everyone is too lazy to use it, bandwidth costs plummet!

Canberra is the same this morning. Although, I am using it.

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

MEL lounge - Friday AM - My iphone wouldn't auto connect as it's done previously. I just gave up, wasn't important.

Where do you get the password from? - Answer Lounge Desk? I assume?

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

There is little signs around the lounge in MEL, one at the service desk, another I've noticed near the bar going to the bathrooms.

They say the password changes daily, was there yesterday and today and it's still the same.

Surely this is penny pinching, can't anyone else see that? I don't mind the fact that it is their policy now, but seriously, 99% of people who enter the lounge would use the wifi, so I think they need to have some slips made up with today's password, when they swipe your card and hand it back, hand back the tiny slip of paper with the password on it. The staff now have another thing to deal with, with everyone who has forgotten to ask "please virgin can I have a password" coming back to the counter to get one. Maybe they will drop one staff member now, then we will all have one less beer/ soup as we que for a password
For those who say its irrelevant, maybe, but let's revisit in 12 months and see what else has been changed

Went through Canberra this morning, and there were signs around with the password on it. No need to ask staff or anything.

Well that's an even better solution to what i suggested If that's the way they are going to do it, no dramas whatsoever

Couldn't spot any signs in syd this morning and the wifi required the password. Didnt look too extensively though and could have missed it.

Just in the Melb Lounge and noticed that they now require a password to access the WiFi.... guess there won't be any chance of people hanging out the front tryin to squeeze in some free downloads :p

Saw this in the Brisbane lounge yesterday.

As I was only in the lounge for a short while, I didn't go to find out the password. I didn't notice it displayed on the wall or any screens. I'm guessing you'll have to go to the desk to find it out.

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

what the hell? everyone whinges about randoms using the wifi, and that a password should be used, then, they put one in place, and everyone still whinges?

every lounge I've been in with Etihad / Air New Zealand was setup the same way, asks for password at some stage - you either have to ask for it or its on signs around the place. am not complaining here!

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

Same p/w for CBR as MEL.

No signs that I saw around MEL, but on pillers as indicated at CBR.

I think this is a good thing.

Yes, it is a good thing. But half baked solutions are cough.

Either have signs up around the lounge, or have a bowl at entry with pieces of paper showing the password.

As Virgin require all guests to have their card swiped, perhaps a "Do you need wifi today" question is appropriate. Would add 10 seconds to the interaction, but solve many of the issues and re-work required.

In Melb this morning it was on a stand next to the paper/magazine section.

People were also getting it from the front desks.

Side note: Did anyone see this morning during check-in at Melb (around 5:30am) the group of people near the priority check in desk? Looked like some american music artist of some sort I just couldn't figure out who.... might be the wrong forum for that question though! lol! :D

Give them time - since this is a new feature, I'm sure the process will evolve for greater efficiency.

(I'm sure the lounge agents would soon get tired of the question ...)

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

Does it look like a password that changes?

Didn't see any signs in SYD this morning, although wasn't looking and only had time for a quick coffee

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

Was in SYD and BNE today - SYD didn't have signage up, but I was too busy making my breakfast to be too bothered with it. BNE had signs all over the place with the password on it - laminated signs at that - so I'm guessing that they either have a few passwords they'll rotate between, or the password is "semipermanent" - and maybe will change monthly, or something like that.....

Re: Can't use australianfrequentflyer from Virgin lounge wifi in Brisbane

I saw signage in SYD today, but only at the front desk, not the premium entry. Supposedly it was also the same password that MEL was using that morning.
