Lounge showers

I wouldn't have thought most shower suites were large enough to share with two people, let alone Princess Fiona's three daughters.

The largest showers I've encounters are the QF Int J at SYD & SIN. The SIN ones could fit two pax in the shower quite easily - but I never have a female travelling companion with me who could help try this out!

Actually I really liked the showers in the CX wing J lounge in Hong Kong. They were big and fantastic water pressure!

And like you I have not had the opportunity to share one yet!

I always get my 3 girls to share a shower suite when we travel as a family, otherwise the eldest would stay in there until the next flights boarding

How does making all three of them share a suite make sure that they will all be showered by boarding time?

At best, it may mean that the eldest will take up 90% of the shower time, the middle one 9% and the youngest 1%. Hardly seems fair then you also have the problem of rationing the shampoo, the conditioner, the hair dryer, the body wash, the moisturiser....

If you want a huge shower suite, try the BKK JL Sakura Lounge. They only have one shower, but the shower itself is massive. You can easily swing a cat inside (although not that you'd want to); probably easily fits 4-6 people, although they wouldn't all be in striking (or useful) distance to the water from the shower head.

Now in saying that, let's not get carried away with any ideas (both planned for real and in dream land - you know what I'm talking about! )

Besides, thewinchester, the way you put it, if you did get a chance to try out co-showering then getting clean is probably the last thing.... oh, never mind... :mrgreen:

Youngest mini-me is v.good at encouraging her bigger sisters to move. Staff ( particularly SIN, BKK and LHR) usually allocate them an accessible shower room which is more than adequate sized for them.
They will of course vacate if needed by other passengers.

Interesting replies! At least I know now that the majority of people either don't share (or don't get the offer). It actually seems like it would be unusual for us to accept and I was left feeling bad because I refused! Oh well.. the boyfriend can't feel so bad about being turned down now

Have never been asked if I want to share a shower with Mr Katie (whose last name I do not share). It's been 5 years since we last travelled alone internationally, though, and that's the only time we've availed ourselves of lounge showers.
I shared the wheelchair-accessible shower in Singapore QP with Little Miss in 2008. She was 18mths old, and spent most of the time running around the room naked and refusing to shower. The bench area in that room was *very* handy for getting her changed though!
After Little Miss had an accident in the newsagent at T4 LAX last year, all three of us ended up in the accessible shower in the AA Lounge/QP. It was really more practical than anything else, trying to wrangle a young child with wet clothes and shoes, as well as get ourselves refreshed after a big day at Disneyland. If she hadn't had the accident, then one of us would have taken Little Miss and the other would have showered alone. Space, even in the accessible shower, was at a premium with three sets of hand luggage, dirty clothes, etc.

Mrs TM confirmed my memory that on those long hauls taken together we've variously shared and not shared. Last occasion would have been at the LAX TBIT OW and IIRC, there was no judgement or strange looks from the person allocating the room even though Mrs TM has a different family name.... got a pleasant "sure, if that's what you'd prefer" and we took it. We very rarely don't shower together (is that TMI?), so we were happy to have the option.

I think the LAX AA T4 showers are big enough to share; the LAX TBIT OW showers definitely are.

Blueflamenco: I feel your pain, but this is vastly less embarassing than the highly restrictive views of the late 80s, a time when eg CX in HKG directly refused even to allow my not-married but very-SO into the lounge because our names didn't match. The ensuing robust discussions between me, SO and CX led to a foul mood which pervaded the first three days of our trip to London.

never been asked despite multiple trips with the Mrs over the years. Thought must have been because of the not sharing of the surname but apparently that is not the reason.

Usually they'd look at you a bit weird if you try that on the plane!

Mr Timtammi and I have been asked to share, can't remember where, I guess all the QP's blend together after a while, it was def a QF liunge though.

I remember being taken aback at the request, and I'm certainly no prude, but I wanted my OWN shower and it didnt seem that busy.. If I remember rightly we swapped out, he went first (faster) and then I took my leisurely time after him.
