Dear all,

What and if lounge would be available to PAX at Beijing traveling on QF108?

I am QF WP. Mrs Longtoo will travel with me on J, for the first time, thus i want to make sure that I can manage the expectation.

Our flight is just before midnight. QF is stating that lounge (operated by CX) is available 4 hr before departure. But OW and CX are both saying that CX lounge is only open until 21:00.

TIA.

Apparently, OW is slow in updating their website. CX lounge is available for QF108 PAX. It is, however, very basic, miles below what you can enjoy in HK. There is no shower in the lounge, but, one can take shower in the transit hotel (next to gate E10) using the invitation card from CX. It was ok for me as just had enough time for a quick shower after a long day of walking around amazing Beijing.

Status QF pax should also be able to access the EK lounge?

EK307 to DXB departs at 12:40am so should be open for status pax on QF108 which departs 23:45pm.

Have I got it wrong? Has anyone used the EK lounge at PEK?

That's good to know! So it shouldn't be far from the CX lounge? Did you use those showers? Are they OK?

Upon checking in, you will be given a lounge invitation and a shower voucher.

It is about 5 min walk between CX lounge and the gate/shower place provided that you don't have to look for direction. Signage at PEK is not that good. I did use the shower. it was ok as just needed to clean myself after a day of walking around Beijing, but step below any lounge showers that i have been to.

The PEK CX lounge is open almost all day. There is KA flight departing about 90 minutes after QF108 which the lounge is open for.

Does anyone know if QF108 check-in only opens 3 hours before departure?

Currently, with a 23:45 scheduled departure, that’s not until 20:45. It makes even very late hotel check-outs a stretch.

And it’s a bit odd to state that the CX lounge is available 4 hours prior to departure if you can’t check-in until 3 hors before...

Why is it odd? CX/KA have flights out of PEK at 0330, 0725, 0800, 1000, 1205, 1340, 1640, 1835, 1940 and 2030.
Other oneworld flights at 0130, 0150, 0250, 0335, 0535, 0605, 0825, 0835, 1045, 1055, 1115 and 2345 (AA and UL not listed as they use a different terminal to the rest of oneworld)

I'm sure plenty of travellers connect in PEK. They'd already be checked in and have their boarding pass.

Why even mention on the QF website that the CX lounge is available 4 hours before the Qantas flight at all when the vast majority of the pax will actually be checking-in at PEK? Unless check-in is also open 4 hours before?

And, as I’ve already noted in my booking, on-line check-in will not be available at PEK. It’s already saying “check-in at the airport”.

Why even mention on the QF website that the CX lounge is available 4 hours before the Qantas flight at all when the vast majority of the pax will actually be checking-in at PEK?

Because the "vast majority" does not mean "all passengers". It's useful information if you are connecting in PEK.

I suggest it wouldn’t make a difference to transit passengers. They have no choice about when they arrive at PEK. But I suppose if you are just Qantas Club it might explain things if CX says no when you try to enter the lounge.

Yes. But then the info is only Qantas Club transit pax with a >4 hour transit??. Pax with oneworld status or in business class should get access to the CX lounge at anytime that day as it’s a oneworld lounge. So I still think it’s a bit odd to state that the lounge is available 4 hours before the flight... When it’s actually open all day.

The CX PEK lounge is very mediocre.
Very. It's like Air France runs it. :P

Also have to get a single use code to use the wifi which they generate from your passport. But then, that's the same with all the airport wifi in mainland China that I've see.

I can now inform that QF check-in at PEK actually opens 6 hours before departure. Currently that’s at around 17:45 local time.

Until about 3 hours before departure only 2 desks are operating.

I can also inform that Emirates lounge staff claim that there is no agreement to allow Qantas pax into the EK lounge.

So it’s not like some other airports in Asia.

I don’t know why. It doesn’t seem to agree with this:

Qantas and Emirates | Qantas

The CX lounge noodle bar. Not great for late night QF departures.

The CX lounge. Looks OK. It’s not brilliant but not so awful either. The closed noodle bar is on the far left.
