Lounge etiquette

Ran into a group of foul mouthed obnoxious Aussies in Air New Zealand lounge in Auckland. They were smartass tools..... They were heading back to Perth, the downside of the mining boom i suppose.

Possibly one beneficial side-effect of the mining downturn will be fewer FIFOs leading to fewer Platinum and Gold Bogans.

Surely you can see its completely different! I am not saying it doesn't occur - just that I haven't witnessed it.

You have posted that because you have not seen it then the person who has, is making it all up as a story and you called it that way.

I have come back to this thread after a couple of days of absence and thank those that are not doubting my "story".

Thommo50, please feel free to go back to post #47 and look at the pic of the bloke. If I had made up the story, I would hardly risk putting his photo on a public forum.

Further, to suggest that somehow people can be a magnet to these sort of situations is victim blaming.

I was in a large upmarket shopping centre today. It has comfy couches. And one guy sound asleep. At least he didn't snore I s'pose.

People do that at our local shopping centre when the weather gets hot. I guess its better than being at home with no aircon...

I used to do that with drron. If his knee was painful (before his knee replacement ) I would park him on a lounge chair in a shopping centre and tell him " I'll be back "

Yeah, agree. Actually he looked kinda comfy! yesterday was Adelaide's coldest first day of summer in over 30 years. Cool today too. But in three days time, 39 and 40. Such temperature swings and no wonder I have a summer cold currently. blech.

Is it acceptable for people to grab whole bottles (glass bottles 750ml) of beverages? Perhaps if there is half a bottle and you're sharing it with a group it may be acceptable. But sometimes don't get those who are by themselves that just grab the whole bottle?

Ddi they ask for a straw for the bottle? That would have been interesting. As it is, it sounds a bit off to take a whole bottle. Perhaps it was going home with them

They didn't ask for a straw. It was strange for me to see. It was just water but I don't think it matters since it was the only bottle of water left on the counter (LAX QF F lounge) and shared among all guests. My guess is that he thought that a bottle = one glass?

I did this many times with water bottles. In the BA lounges they always seem to have at least 50 big bottles in the fridge. Never thought it was rude, but if only one bottle was available I guess I would only pour one glass.

A fridge full of water that it's obviously there to take a bottle is one thing, one bottle alone on a counter? I would not consider that fair game. just imho
