I'm back for another stint working where I have been most of the past three years.

I was talking to one of the young blokes there today. He and 6 mates were returning from a holiday somewhere in Asia via SIN recently and had an 8 hour connection to a JQ flight back to Oz (MEL directly I presume). No such things as status, and I believe flying Air Asia and or Jetstar.

So they were in T1, happened to notice an inviting looking place (aka The Emirates Lounge), the door agent's back was turned doing something else, and in all 7 of them wandered! He swears they did not realise it was a 'private' lounge, at least until they were inside and saw the bar and food etc.

So all 7 of them took a nice shower (towels etc. were in there), shave etc, jumped on the net, had some food and drink, and spent a nice time (not sure exactly how long) relaxing in the EK lounge. And just left when they felt like it. The lounge was not crowded at all while they were there, and he said they were quiet and well-behaved, hence no attention drawn to them.

I wish lounge access was always this easy.

Not saying I do not believe the story but a lot of us with top tier status have troubles accessing lounges we have access rights and these 7 people just happened to sneak into a lounge while the agent's back was turned and not a question was asked?

I forget what the Emirates lounge entrance looks like but you could not enter that easily into the QF/BA lounges and if the staff at reception do not remember you entering the Skyview lounge expect to be questioned if there are only a few people in the lounge.

I'd believe it, I've never had to prove my right to be there once inside a club.
Time your entry right and you probably wouldn't be questioned.

I was in BNE (DOM) a while back and connecting to a SYD flight. I went on into the QC but I must have been in a daze or on the phone as I went past the desk. I found myself in a bizarro version of the BNE QC. I thought they must have closed off half of it for renovations as I was sure I hadn't seen this part before. Of course I realised then I was in the J side of the QC which hadn't been going that long at the time. I've been tempted to wander that way again but haven't. Can't happen in SYD because they have separate desks.

It is, if you have EK gold status (as I have). Will watch out for interlopers like this in future.

It's just wrong!

Oh I agree. :)

I am just so surprised they managed it...especially since they were unaware initially that they were intruding where they should not have been.

I find this part of the story unbelivable. The EK lounge is upstairs and away from pretty much everything else, similar to how the QC is in a different upstairs section. In fact, in that section, there are only 2 lounges - the EK one, and the Rainforest (by SATS). So, nobody would even go up there unless they have the intention of going to a lounge. To reach this location, you would have to intentionally take an escalator or a lift from the main transit level in a somewhat out-of-place location.

I'm just relaying what I've been told, and have no reason to disbelieve the teller.

I doubt it is something made up.

I've done that a couple of times - couldn't work out why it was smaller than I remembered and figured I must be a bit jetlagged! Didn't notice that much difference other than size, to be honest!
