Lounge Dragon Stories

Lounge Dragons (from all airlines) earnt that title well before covid.
Indeed, I can recall when I used to live in Europe of being interrogated by the LH and sometimes even the LX lounge dragons. In particular, they would not accept my digital United card so I'd have to dig my wallet out of my bag to show them my United Premier Gold card. I can also recall having a lounge dragon try to deny my entry as a Premier Gold flying EuroWings basic economy at the lounge in DUS. I had to remind them of the secret agreement UA and NH had at the time to allow its elites to continue to access LH lounges regardless of fare class they were booked into with EuroWings.

About five years ago (back when SYD-YVR was only seasonal) I was denied entry in the YVR BA lounge (travelling QF) as he said "the lounge is at capacity". Unfortunately for him, the lounge was designed that I could see that the lounge was completely empty (The QF flight was a few hours before the BA one) - and when further questioned, he pulled out at sign that said "Lounge has reached capacity, sorry for the inconvenience" to which I said "I can see the lounge is completely empty!". He then gave up and let us in.

But once in we asked where the showers were, to which we were told there were none - so we finished our G&Ts and went to the QF designated lounge (I think it was plaza premium or something), and was probably better than the BA lounge in all fairness.

Maybe the lounge dragon meant to say that the lounge doesn't have the capacity to serve you specifically! 🤣

Had another story (was only about 25 at the time) about the BA lounge in IAD who wasn't keen on letting me and my friend in - and that as we were flying AA we should use the AC. But this was back in the days of ACs charging for drinks so I was having none of it and quoted the ow rules - to which she conceded to let us in with a -"fine, but you're not bringing that pizza in here - come back when you've finished it".

Looking back that was peak American to bring food into a lounge.

This reminds me of my last international trip from LAX > SYD where the Polaris dragon was lecturing me about not taking outside drinks in. I told them, look this is the last Starbucks I'm going to have in some time (since Australia doesn't actually have Starbucks). She relented fortunately!

Really? I only use AA lounges in the US and it seems to be the done thing to bring in outside F&B - including the Flagship lounge.

I know the AS lounge in SFO had a barista but I don't recall AA lounges having one - usually just the machines (though to be fair, I'm normally after booze).

(I've asked the moderator to merge the other posts in here as we did go off on a bit of a tangent)

I remember when AS first allowed access to QFF but none of the lounges were told obviously. Mrsdrron got knocked back with her WP card but I put one over the dragons. Still in my wallet is my original LQP card. Blue in colour. They could never find it on any guide they could bring up and nearly always I got away with the line that is because there are very few of us and it is Invitation only.
