I have booked a QF J class award. The flights are on Cathay

The ticket is showing CX flight numbers though

I know that I get lounge access, but am I allowed to take a guest into the Brisbane International QF lounge as well?

If the flight has a CX flight number and you have no OW status then I think oneworld rules will apply, which means no guests unfortunately.

Just for clarity you've booked Cathay Pacific flights through qantas. Other than making the booking for you, qantas has nothing to do with flights or their operation... everything goes by Cathay (and oneworld) rules including where to check in, baggage, lounge access etc.
