Seems like a lifetime ago since I booked and will be able to take a flight on Qatar.

Question - I've booked the classic J fare to UK so understand on that Fare I have access to the Al Mourjan lounge in Qatar. We have a 3 hiour wait in Doha to take advantage.

For the return flight I booked a light J fare meaning no lounge access in Doha but not an issue as there is only an hour in Doha transit. But hadn't thought about lounge access in Heathrow. Being Emerald in One world Im hoping that this will give us access to the lounge Aspire in Terminal 5 regardless of the booking?

Yes, that's how I read it. But I'm not a lounge rules wonk. I assume the Emerald membership is on your boarding pass (ie not requiring a switch-a-roo situation or showing a different card)

Thankyou! I’ll check that article out.

Quick look - I was able to select seats on purchase so think that means the Emerald kicks in. For 3pm flight out and need to early check in the lounge at LHR will be handy.

It does look like Emerald kicks in :) The article does mention that lite Business cannot select seats so far in advance.

From a general perspective, these fares are a great way to save money. If you already have lounge access elsewhere, you are not 'doubling' up on the J fare.

You'd also be able to access the BA lounge in T5, while not that great you can access via the 'First Wing' which is really fast and easy. (Dont need to be flying BA).

Im guessing QR will have their own check in desks in T5 similar to IB but can clear security via the First Wing, assuming QR stay in T5 that is.....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
