We are flying VA for the first time on 17 July to LAX. MEL-SYD DJ and then VA Y+ SYD-LAX.

Both of us are SG but of course that won't help us here. Mr Timtammi has Amex Plat Charge card and Priority Pass but there doesn't seem to be a PP club at SYD? I believe Plat card holders get access to Delta Skyclub but I think its only if flying Delta (which we are LAX-MSP) and so I don't think that will work in SYD either, and not sure if there is a club anyway.

Will we have no lounge access at all?

Also, we are interested in seeing if we can purchase an upgrade at check-in to J. Does anyone know if this can be done in Mel (I assume we have to check-in at DOM DJ counter) or do we have to wait to get to SYD? In which case it might be too late.. Anyone done any ODU on VA lately? Success or not? Cost?

Cheers

Unfortunately Priority Pass in Australia is really only useful for domestic travel i.e. DJ lounge. If your flying VA Y+ then you have no lounge access.

When I flew VA Y+ and I was interested in an upgrade, the upgrade fee was equal to the cost of the difference between Y+ and J. This cost was $500ea for a one way coughet-Brisbane flight, therefore expect something much more substantial for a MEL-LAX journey. Basically you or the ticketing agent will need to speak with the call centre to arrange the upgrade.

MEL International UA RCC has PP access, but only open 08:00 - 11:00 daily.

Bummer there isn't anything in SYD! I sent a email to PP a while back complaining at the lack of lounges in SYD when departing on an international flight. Grr.

Thanks all, I guess I will just have to spend longer lingering in the Duty Free then.

Cheers

Flying back LAX-Syd in June on V Aust in Y+ I made an enquiry re a paid upgrade. As per Haydensydney I was informed if there were any such upgrades(none on our flight) it was the difference in cost of the 2 classes.
