Just been re-united with some electronic equipment. Was on a flight to US a few weeks ago, and I packed my bags an hour before landing. I wanted a quick departure from the plane.

When I was passing thru TSA again, I couldn't locate the item. I called the Qantas support number, and the lady took all the details. I also tried calling the lost property office at the airport with no luck. I was resigned to an insurance claim.

A few days I passed thru the same airport on the way home. I asked at the Qantas Club, and was informed that they had the item and it would be returned at the boarding gate. I spoke to the QANTAS rep at the gate. My item was found 10 rows from where I was sitting in a part of the plane I never went to, and was handed to a supervisor 20 minutes after the cleaning crew checked the plane.

While I can only suspect how my equipment got to another part of the plane. I now return all my items to bag as soon as I have finished, and don't sleep with anything in the seat pockets.

I have seen used BP left in seat pockets after QF flights.
And no, I didn't peek to see who the name on it was.
Its surprising things that are found left on planes.

Was the item in hold baggage or carry-on? Are you suggesting that someone on the aircraft opened your bag and removed the item?
