Looks like an 8 hour delay in Dubai - does Emirates provide hotel rooms?

Nearly three hour delay leaving Cairo means am looking at a likely missed connection in Dubai and an 8 hour wait for the next flight to Melbourne - do Emirates normally provide hotel tooms in those circumstances or am I going to be slumming it in the lounge...?

Happened to us a few years back, we had to slum it in the lounge.
Yep - that is what has happened - not impressed as has been impossible to get any sleep in the lounge. Will update later on the rest of the mess...

Not for 8 hours, the EK lounges have decent resting areas if not too crowded. If you want to there is an airport hotel, I wouldn’t think it’s worth it for 8 hours unless you had a bad flight.

Unfortunately there were a lot of people in the same boat off my delayed flight into Dubai, and a fair number had already beaten us to the rest areas in the lounge. Interestingly the 10am flight out of Dubai to Melbourne that I was put onto was only about 50% full - it might be a better option than the 2am flight for the future.

were you in J and if so, did they find new seats for you in J? I always wonder what happens if you're in J and you miss a connection and there are no J seats available...probably a nightmare of mine. :0

I guess things could be worse though - when I was coming through the terminal I glanced up at the arrivals screen and saw that the QF94 which was due in to Melbourne about 6am this morning was not going to arrive until 7 tonight... not sure of the reason.
