As a reader / member of AFF what is the longest you have gone with out flying?

Since becoming a FF wit status it was six months from mid December last year to early June. I switched jobs to no domestic flying and trips away stopped as we had our second daughter in January.
Currently looking at my next flight next June so another long drought as I just did a Trans Tasman over the weekend.

This year - from mid January until late May due to health reasons (DVT) and I did not like it.

21 years for me. Didn't take my first flight until I was 21.

Since ive been a FF with status( last 9 years ) the longest without stepping on a plane is right now. Last week of November- 1st Jan. I so about 6 weeks in total. Previously to that, its been around 3 weeks.

Such a difficult question to answer as between which periods of time do you measure it?
Like Dr Ralph above, many many years in my youth.

had my last flight this year on the 3rd of October and won't fly again until the 22nd of December, was grounded by SWMBO who gave birth on the 16th of November :)

before that about 2 months last year due to a change in position at work but generally fly about every month.

Varies a lot. Most of my flying is self funded, with the odd random work trip thrown in a couple of times a year.

I find I tend to go in blocks, I'll do 4 or 5 flights in a couple of weeks, then perhaps 4 or 5 months till the next group.

But, perhaps the longest would have been in the late 90's, probably went 4 years without flying. Mostly due to work commitments. (which obviously didn't involve flying). Made up for it from 2000 through till 2007 with a lot of flying. Heck! If I'd only known about SC and FF points then! Only been in the last 5 or 6 years that I have discovered the bug.

As an AFF member, the longest drought has been just under twelve months. Lifetime record gap would be about six years.

The first 19 years of my life (my kids find that hard to believe) and then when I was between jobs I went about a year without flying. Well I went from redundancy to my own business in that time. I remember having a run of 1989 to 2004 where I managed to go overseas every year except 1995. So it's not really a run but I got married that year so it was all 'domestic'.

First flight was in 1993 when I was 9 years old.

Then 1996, 2000, 2001.

Started flying regularly in 2002 and don't think I've gone more than a few months since then.

Got off a flight an hour ago (LAX-SYD) and have five flights left before the end of the year (SYD-BNE-SYD, SYD-MEL-SYD, SYD-AKL).

I am currently in the longest stint of no flying due to a major house renovation, last trip April 2015 next flight (x5) in 10 days so 20 months for me... Serious withdrawal.

My first flights were in 1974, when I was in my late twenties and we moved from Europe to Australia. Since then I flew nearly every year, but there were a few 2 or 3 year gaps and even one 8 year gap. Semi-retirement in 2005 and retirement in 2013 brought big changes with lots of travel. Six months is now the longest time without flying and that gives withdrawal symptoms!

Haven't flown since our US/Canada trip that saw us home in September 2015. Next flights at the moment are after a cruise in April to Hawaii, fly to the Big Island from Oahu & return, then back to Oz on a Qantas ticket via Fiji using Fiji Air.
