Longest Non-Stop Regularly-Scheduled Flight?

After doing a Williamtown - Perth run in a C130 many years ago, I will never complain about WHY.

My father was involved in a flight of 3 from the US to OZ back in the 80's which at the time was a record for the longest flight non stop in a fighter. 2 Hornets and a KC135. Best photo from the trip is a KC135 out of Hawaii refuelling the KC135. Looks like two whales mating:!:

SYD - ORD - Do you think this is a route the new A380 can handle, or more the point a route the airlines would run... not sure of the demand, but Qantas currently code share, it would be interesting to know what level of interest would be in that sector....

Did I read when the A380's were first announced that Qantas would consider that route...

(painfully killing time in PER waiting for the delayed MEL-PER 776  )

A few years back Qantas planned to introduce SYD-LAX-ORD services in a similar manner to their SYD-LAX-JFK operations. They had the flights scheduled and even sold tickets. Then they dropped it a few weeks before it was to commence. So if they could not make a 744 viable to ORD even using LAX as hub to collect BNE/MEL passengers, then SYD-ORD in an A380 is not going to happen any time soon.

ORD and DFW are AA's two largest hubs, so I would expect there to be benefit for QF being there too. But you never know what sort of politics plays out. As it stands now, AA gets to operate the flights between LAX and ORD/DFW, so they won't want to miss out on that capacity.
