Does anyone know which is the longest non-stop regularly-scheduled flight in the world?

I was looking at the Qantas international network map in the back of the Qantas in-flight magazine and noticed that its longest non-stop flight is MEL-LAX, which clocks in at 12,749 km (without much to look at out of the windows on the way!).

Do any other airlines have a non-stop service longer than this?

i know Singapore has a specially fitted out Airbus from Singapore to Los Angeles( and it is around 14,000 k non stop.
Not too sure if they have one slightly further.
But largerseats , more room even in economy.Only 7 across 2-3-2 and executive economy.
An take note of the fare around 1200 Australian. Stand around snack bar etc.
And they refresh the toilets inflight also.

And that 14,000kms is going to be a really long flight given the slower speed of the airbus. I think there is also a few other airlines with special long distance A340's with a more premium fitout for longer trips, i can't remember why it was though.

I always wondered even with the new A380 why they didn't give it slightly longer legs to get halfway aorund the world, ie does not matter where you start you can reach any destination in any direction. Just misses out.

It is a 16 hour flight which I think is around 4 hours shorter than the norm.
Hey but what a good price.
I bet Qantas more in price and less in comfort, service.

Don't United run a non-stop ORD-SYD route (just under 15,000km)? Apparently that's a 19hour flight.

Painful if in whY.

Don't know if it is the longest, but in late 2005, friends flew EWR-SIN (and return) on SQ non-stop and said it was an ~18 hour flight. Operated (now, anyways) by an A345. Mileage monkey says it is 9539 miles (15351 km).

No they don't. It stops on the way.

From Great Circle Mapper:

MEL-LAX = 7921 miles
BKK-JFK = 8677 miles
SIN-LAX = 8770 miles
SIN-EWR = 9535 miles

Hmm - just planning a trip later this year. Need to get from HKG to NYC. The direct flight on CX is listed at 18 hours 20 mins - I assume that must stop somewhere....

Might have to make it a slightly more interesting flight ;)

They have two flights:

747 refuels in Vancouver, or
A340 which is nonstop

 - I should have seen that from the oneworld schedules software (lists the number of stops) - sorry about that.

Not sure I have the stomach for 18 hours onboard - that might be a bit much even for me.

Hmm - why do I feel another DONE4 planning thread coming - apologies in advance for that ;)

Actually, IMO (in J) it's better to go JFK-(YVR-)HKG as it's an evening departure from JFK. Have youy meal, be wined and dined and then sleep from YVR to HKG.

I am going the other way serfty HKG-NYC ;)

The problem of the flight via YVR is that probably when you have finally got to sleep, the plane lands in YVR. But 18 hrs nonstop...hopefully you could stay awake for the first 10 hrs or so and then sleep, doesn't sound like an appealing flight though. I have to laugh when people talk about planes flying MEL/SYD-LHR nonstop, 10500nm. I find getting off for an hour or two in Singapore to be excellent, i mean I am really not in that much of a hurry :!:

I have to assume that the OP meant civil scheduled passenger service.
I do not have the details or whether it is a regular service but a friend of mine spent over 20 hours non stop in a plane from US West Coast to an unspecified destination in the Middle East.
Air-to-Air refueling was required to achieve it;) .
I can also guarantee that this was no mileage run or points or SC awarded and definitely not in "J". AVOD IFE well....
In fact from my only flight in a C130 I would say that WHY would have been much more comfortable.

A C130 ??? no way !
That would be so not fun ! Been on a C130H before, but i loved it since it was a once off experience.
A lot of the bomber crews could do that very often i would imagine.

Our Airforce Orions do 20 hours on occasion when they go into ETOPs at 50ft AMSL, and they have AVOD (just not the sort we are used to) but no inflight service apart form a meal box. There is a well publicised incident report of one flying under an Ansett helicopter awaiting airways clearance ex Hamilton Island before the runway was built
